As a GitHub Lead DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in transitioning our customer's build pipelines and source code repositories to GitHub Enterprise. You will be responsible for migrating source code repositories from various platforms such as Bitbucket, Subversion, CVS, and GitLab to GitHub Enterprise. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring a smooth migration process, optimising workflows and integrating GitHub with existing tools and systems.
Please note this role operates in a hybrid model with candidates expected to be able and willing to work from our customer's London offices twice a month.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and implement migration strategies to transition projects and repositories to GitHub
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop migration plans
Perform hands-on repository migrations, including codebase, issues, documentation and CI/CD pipeline configurations
Ensure seamless integration of GitHub with existing tools and workflows
Optimise GitHub workflows and CI/CD pipelines for performance, security and scalability
Provide technical guidance and support during the migration process
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to repository migration and integration
Document processes, configurations and best practices
Stay updated with the latest features and developments in GitHub and associated DevOps tools
Required skills & experience:
Ability and experience of acting as a Lead Engineer
Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, Source Code Manager or similar role with hands-on GitHub implementation
Strong proficiency with GitHub and Git version control
Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, Bash)
Understanding of containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Desirable skills:
Experience with EKS Harness, Kubernetes, Jenkins/Cloudbees, Terraform, Puppet, Rspec, Black Duck, SonarQube, Artifactory
