Role: Solution Architect/Consultant - Banking/Trading/Motgage/Lending/Mobile Apps
Location: Knutsford (hybrid 2 days)
• Work with senior stakeholders from Business, Technology, Security, Risk & Service to gather, document and refine their requirements for all changes to the Barclays and Barclaycard apps.
• Use system specific knowledge and technical expertise to design solutions to meet all requirements and document as Design Thumbnails (impact assessments), High Level and Detailed Designs.
• Support the Business with production of screen flows.
• Drive out the BRDs (Business Requirements - Detailed) in a collaborative style to ensure all needs are fully identified to the level required.
• Provide information to the business teams and management regarding the consequences of specifying a requirement in a particular way, influencing the final outcome in this way.
• Ensure Non Functional Requirements (e.g. Performance, MI, Volumes, Service Levels, etc.) are fully defined, thought through and documented.
• To be responsible for all changes to the application / system throughout the whole product life cycle including retirement of systems.
Key Accountabilities
• Establish and deliver solutions for projects to meet the business needs.
• Work with end-to-end architects and application and component leads to shape the solution into its optimal form.
• Document the solution in a two-page Design Thumbnail (impact assessment).
• Size the project at the Design Thumbnail Review Board with input from PM, Build and Test communities.
• Document High Level & Detailed Designs to the required level to enable Build, Test, Project Managers and
• ourselves to deliver the project.
• Support Build / Test / Security / Business / PM query resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
• Able to identify priorities and adjust time allocation when priorities change. Tasks are completed within estimated time / deadline. If deadlines cannot be met - inform appropriate stakeholders.
• After solving a problem - shares new knowledge with a project team.
• Able to understand and communicate thoughts/design/ideas/specifications in an unambiguous manner and adjusts communication as per the context. Sustains confidentiality where information is delicate. Is able to choose appropriate communication channel for certain situation.

Responsible for interacting with staff at all levels across the Business and IT functions including but not limited to:
• Senior stakeholders from Business, Fraud, Security and Service
• IT / End-To-End Architects
• Service Managers
• Programme / Project Managers
• Business Change Managers
• Business Product Owners
• SI Partners and 3rd parties
• Developers and Testers
Risk and Control Objective
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards
Person Specification
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
• Excellent problem solving skills and proven ability at documenting application architecture solutions.
• Understanding of Client Server Interaction, Application and Infrastructure architecture,
• Understanding of mobile technologies, the strengths and weaknesses platforms such as iOS & Android
• Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work concisely when under pressure
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience of working within a project framework such as Waterfall, Agile & Scrum.
• Awareness of the Barclays business unit responsibilities and structure.
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently, with ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
• Understanding of API definition languages such as JSON, RAML or REST?
