Technical Team Lead - Java | Hybrid Remote (1 day per week in Crawley)

An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced Technical Team Lead to join a successful and growing global business specialising in real-time data analytics for call management software. Partnered with industry giants such as Microsoft and Cisco, the company is expanding its product suite and customer base globally.
As Technical Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and delivery of scalable, high-quality software. This role is approximately 70-80% technical-covering full-stack development, systems design, architecture, and serving as the senior technical escalation point for your squad. The remaining 20-30% focuses on leadership-driving best practice, resource planning, and contributing to overall team performance and delivery.
You'll join an established engineering function of around 30 people, working alongside Development Managers, Technical Leads, Developers, Product Owners, and a QA team. This hybrid role requires just 1 day per week onsite in Crawley, with the flexibility to work remotely the rest of the week.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
Proven experience in a Technical Lead or Senior Software Engineer role within a similar domain.
Strong commercial experience in Core Java development, with a deep understanding of multithreaded server-side applications and microservice architecture.
Hands-on experience with front-end technologies such as React and JavaScript.
Cloud expertise with AWS services (EC2, VPC, S3, CloudWatch).
Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and optimising performance in high-availability systems.
Experience working with Agile methodologies and modern software delivery practices.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor, lead, and inspire a development team.
Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, API design, web security, and application vulnerabilities.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with Microsoft Azure services.
Familiarity with the Atlassian suite (Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence).
Proficiency with CI/CD tools and deployment practices, such as AWS CodeDeploy and Bitbucket pipelines.
Microsoft Teams Administration experience.
Prior experience working with geographically dispersed or remote teams.
