Job Description

While you’ll have heard our name, there’s a lot you probably don’t know about NEXT. Like how we create most of our systems ourselves – whether it’s a website, mobile app or application. What’s more, we’re growing. Fast. And it’s the kind of growth and investment that is exciting for everyone in our business.

Infrastructure & Cloud Services are at the forefront of everything from Cloud to Networking, Data Centres to virtual servers/servers (Windows and Linux) as well as desktops, Licensing and mobile phones! Every piece of infrastructure at Head office, in the stores, the warehouses, for the website or the contact centre are supported by this area. Central services such as Microsoft Azure, GSuite and GCP, file services, Citrix, Active Directory (and much more) are all provided and supported by this area.

The role

Technology drives what we do. Plain and simple. As we’re going through a huge change as a business, we need a solid team with us who are committed to driving our systems forward.

As a DevOps Engineer you’ll play a key part in this. Your focus will be on migrating our on-premise platforms to the cloud, working in alignment with our Development teams and providing Cloud environment knowledge. You’ll do this using different technologies:

Infrastructure-as-code
Azure DevOps (on-premises and cloud), CI/CD pipelines, automated builds/releases
Docker containers, Kubernetes, microservices, SonarQube, Helm charts
PowerShell scripts
SQL Server database, Windows & Linux servers
Microsoft .NET Framework, .NET Core, ASP.NET Core, C#, TFS

In addition, we’re looking for you to be:

Able to speak, read and write English at a level that enables you to complete your role, for example, to understand instructions and communicate effectively with stakeholders and/or other team members
Experienced in effectively working in a collaborative manner in a large scale, fast paced environment within a multifunctional technical team

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll be guiding project teams on how to use our environments in the best way possible as well as working with our brilliant in-house Auditing and Security teams. You’ll have a direct impact on the migration projects we have in the works so get ready to make your mark!

You’ll be doing all this from our Leicestershire Head Office on a hybrid basis. A fast-paced, encouraging and supportive environment in which everyone brings an energy and a commitment to delivering for our customers and their own careers. Bring your energy. Play to your strengths. Make things bigger and better than before. Let’s Take It On.

We’re always happy to have candid chats about what you need, and where you need to be in order to be at your best. So, flexible working is fine by us.

So if you’re an expert in this field, have strong communication skills and considerable DevOps knowledge, work with initiative and can build great working relationships within the business, this is the place for you – and your career.
