The Role
Seeking experienced technology leaders (e.g., CTOs) to independently run due diligence processes, assess technology strategy, infrastructure, and operations, and articulate the commercial implications of technology decisions to private equity clients.
Lead Independent Due Diligence Processes: Take ownership of the technology due diligence process, aligning efforts with private equity clients' investment theses and strategic objectives
Assess Technology Strategy and Architecture: Evaluate the target company's technology strategy, architecture, and infrastructure to determine scalability, resilience, and alignment with business goals in the context of the appropriateness for the maturity of the target business
Analyse Technology Operations: Review software development processes, IT operations, and technology team structures to assess efficiency, capability, and alignment with growth objectives
Assess Commercial Implications: Understand and articulate the commercial implications of technology strategies and decisions, including their impact on scalability, cost efficiency, and competitive positioning
Conduct Stakeholder Interviews: Engage with CTOs, technology leadership teams, and other stakeholders to gather qualitative insights and validate findings
Prepare High-Quality Deliverables: Develop concise, well-structured reports and presentations that clearly articulate findings, risks, and recommendations, tailored to a private equity audience
Collaborate with Clients and Advisors: Work closely with Palladium non-technical consultants, PE clients, target company management teams, and other professional advisors to ensure alignment and clarity throughout the diligence process
Guide Junior Team Members: (Where appropriate in larger projects) provide mentorship and oversight to junior team members, ensuring the delivery of accurate, high-quality, and timely analysis
Specialist areas (see experience below)
Evaluate Cybersecurity and Compliance: Identify risks related to cybersecurity, data privacy, and regulatory compliance, providing actionable recommendations to mitigate these risks
Requirements
Technology Leadership Background (Required): Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior technology leadership role (e.g., CTO, VP of Engineering, or equivalent), with hands-on experience in technology strategy, architecture, and operations
Specialist expertise: High-level experience in specialist areas (including cyber security, product development processes and data infrastructure) is desired in order to assess whether a deep dive is required, but the ability to conduct specialist diligence (e.g. cyber security assessments, code reviews) is not required
Diligence Expertise (highly desired): Experience conducting technology due diligence assignments for private equity clients, with a focus on identifying risks and opportunities
Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of the commercial implications of technology decisions, including their impact on scalability, cost efficiency, and competitive positioning
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assess complex technology environments and draw actionable insights, with a focus on practical, real-world solutions
Communication Excellence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and persuasively to senior stakeholders
Client-Facing Skills: Professional demeanor with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, instilling confidence and trust
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, with a proactive mindset and the ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with modern technology stacks, software development methodologies, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity best practices
Tools Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and presentation development
