We are currently seeking an Applications Engineer to join our Automation Team. This role is pivotal in developing, refining, and delivering fully integrated machining and robotic systems to our clients.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have extensive CNC programming experience, including machine setup, operation, tool selection, and process troubleshooting. You should be adept at optimizing machining operations to ensure precision and efficiency. Since this role involves working at our Leamington Spa facility and visiting customer sites nationwide, a full UK driving license.
While experience in robotic programming is beneficial, it is not mandatory—we’re looking for a professional eager to expand their skills in automation. This position offers hands-on experience with industrial robots, providing opportunities to integrate CNC machinery with robotic automation and advance within the field of smart manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Program and set up CNC machinery to achieve peak performance.
Configure and program industrial robots to integrate seamlessly with CNC processes.
Assemble and fine-tune full automation systems, ensuring smooth operation.
Conduct final system tests and customer approvals to confirm performance.
Work with in-house software to synchronize CNC and robotic automation.
Troubleshoot and refine automation processes to address unforeseen challenges.
Install and commission automation systems at customer locations.
Provide technical training on CNC programming, robotics, and automation systems.
Validate machining and automation workflows for customer approval.
Offer continued technical support, diagnosing and optimizing automation systems in the field.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong background in Fanuc programming.
Familiarity with Siemens or Heidenhain controls is an advantage.
A time-served engineer with a minimum of five years’ experience in CNC machining applications.
Recognized engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications.
Experience with 5-axis machining centers and multi-tasking turning centers is beneficial.
Knowledge of Fusion 360 is a plus.
Strong communication skills with a professional approach.
Full UK driving license (no more than three penalty points).
