The Opportunity:
ECI has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Network Services Engineer to join our UK team. The Senior Network Services Engineer will be part of the Managed Services team that provides 24x7 monitoring, operations, and support services. The candidate will be delivering technical support and consultation to our clients in the financial services, life sciences, legal and manufacturing verticals just to mention a few. The individual must be comfortable working in a very fast paced, busy environment in the rapidly growing monitoring & managed services industry.
What you will do:
Design and implement high-speed, low-latency network architectures for trading platforms and financial applications.
Analyze and optimize network paths and configurations to minimize latency, especially for market data feeds.
Utilize advanced monitoring tools to detect network issues in real time.
Lead diagnosis and resolution of network outages or performance issues, coordinating with cross-functional teams.
Manage and resolve tickets escalated from the NOC, ensuring timely responses and solutions.
Provide on-call support for network incidents, ensuring rapid response to critical issues.
Address service requests from internal clients, providing support for network-related issues and enhancements.
Implement corrective actions swiftly to restore service and minimize business impact.
Conduct thorough post-mortem analyses after major incidents, documenting findings and identifying root causes.
Collaborate with teams to implement recommendations from post-mortem reviews.
Work closely with traders and developers to understand performance requirements and ensure network reliability.
Engage with market data vendors to ensure integration of high-speed data feeds.
Optimize configurations to enhance delivery and reliability of market data streams.
Manage vendor relationships to address issues and negotiate service level agreements (SLAs).
Implement robust security measures while maintaining low-latency performance.
Periodically visit clients and work from client locations to address specific network needs or issues.
Visit data centers for installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network infrastructure.
Maintain thorough documentation of network configurations, procedures, and incident reports.
Who you are:
Strong routing and switching experience in high-performance environments.
Data center switching experience with familiarity in BGP, OSPF, VRF, spine-leaf topology, VXLAN, multicasting, etc.
Expert in Arista, Mellanox (Cumulus Linux), FortiGate and Palo Alto devices.
Proficient in Azure networking.
Familiarity in scripting languages for network automation and monitoring.
Experience with performance testing tools like iPerf and Wireshark.
Strong automation experience in network configuration and management.
Experience working in the investment banking sector, understanding the unique demands of low-latency trading environments.
Understand financial regulations impacting network operations.
Progress from network administration/support to specialized roles in low-latency networking or network architecture.
Bonus points if you have:
Experience with Managed Service Providers (MSP)
Experience with Microsoft Modern Workplace
Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) administration experience
Financial Services Industry experience
Experience in NetBrain is a plus.
Experience in VMware is a plus.
Knowledge of Kubernetes is a plus.
