The Role
The Interim Technology Director will be a hands-on leader responsible for maintaining the overall architecture, security, reliability, and scalability of our technology environment while driving operational excellence. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and a proven track record of implementing a technology roadmap and vision.
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of leadership, technical expertise, and soft skills, including strategic planning, effective communication, project management, problem-solving, and a keen awareness of cybersecurity. Experience in managing infrastructure and IT operations within a financial services or similar environment is essential.
Reporting directly to the Chief Product and Technology Officer, you will have direct responsibility for the Service Management Team (4), InfoSec (1) and Infrastructure (5), To be successful in your role, you will be required to work collaboratively with your peers in Data, Development and Product Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure and Cloud Management
Oversee the current architecture, deployment and maintenance of cloud (Azure) and on-premise infrastructure – ensuring stability, performance and security.
Work with the Head of Infrastructure to develop and implement strategies for scalability, automation, and cost optimisation across cloud and data centre environments
Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance infrastructure resilience and efficiency.
Operational Excellence & Service Delivery
Lead IT operations, including incident management, change management, and service delivery.
Establish and refine processes for monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting across all layers of the Tech estate.
Ensure uptime and reliability of critical business applications and platforms.
Security, Compliance and Risk Management
Work closely with the Head of InfoSec to ensure infrastructure adheres to best practices in cybersecurity, compliance, and data protection.
Implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to mitigate risks and minimise downtime
Maintain compliance with industry regulations such as DORA, GDPR, and others as required.
Team Leadership, and Vendor Management
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing infrastructure and operations team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Manage relationships with external vendors, cloud providers, and managed service partners to optimise performance and cost efficiency.
Collaborate with software engineering, data, and business teams to align infrastructure and operational strategies with company goals.
Required Experience
10+ years in infrastructure and IT operations, ideally with some in financial services.
3+ years in a leadership role
Sound understanding of project management principles
Ability to think critically and creatively
Overseeing contracts and managing relationships with external vendors
Strong knowledge of networking, system administration, databases

Manage and coordinate AOG recoveries Track and analyse repetitive defects across the fleet. Liaise with maintenance providers at each base to understand and advise on technical defects as and when they happen. Obtain approved data from/liaise with TC holder, STC holder or part 21 DOA for approval conditions whenever a/c damages are not covered by approved maintenance data and/or when intensive troubleshooting is required. Work with OCC (Operations Control Centre) to update the maintenance plan as a result of changes to the day-to-day operation, to minimise schedule disruption. Monitor in real time the ACARS/AVIATAR reporting platform for any aircraft faults and plan the appropriate actions. Update AMOS with opened ATL pages and WO/WPs at outstations. Monitor the Wizz Air UK fleet scheduled and unscheduled maintenance forecast status.
