Engineering Manager – Scientific Instrumentation
Location: Cambridge
Platform Recruitment is partnering with a leading manufacturer of electro-mechanical scientific instruments, specialising in end-to-end product development—from concept to production. They are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary R&D team and drive the development of innovative, high-performance scientific equipment.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in a cutting-edge engineering environment, overseeing new product development and ensuring designs are robust, thoroughly tested, and production-ready.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a multidisciplinary R&D team
Oversee new product development from concept to production
Develop innovative CAD designs for complex electro-mechanical systems
Drive prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs
Design precision mechanisms and components for scientific instruments
Key Requirements:
Proven experience in team management within an R&D or engineering environment
Strong background in electro-mechanical or scientific design
Hands-on expertise in end-to-end product development
Proficiency in 3D CAD design (SolidWorks)
Practical experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques including injection moulding, machining, and assembly
