An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Partner to join a well-known hospitality/retail business on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This role is perfect for someone with a strong commercial finance background who thrives in fast-paced, multi-site environments.

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, you will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, providing financial insight, commercial decision support, and strategic planning. You will be responsible for:
• Financial Analysis: Providing insight into key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying risks and opportunities, and supporting decision-making.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Managing budgets, forecasts, and payroll planning, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Business Partnering: Working with operational teams to improve financial performance, streamline processes, and enhance reporting.
• Strategic Planning: Supporting long-term financial planning, tracking commercial projects, and analysing market trends.
• Risk & Opportunity Management: Collaborating with stakeholders to mitigate risks and maximise commercial opportunities.
• Ad-Hoc Analysis & Projects: Evaluating business proposals, providing commercial analysis, and ensuring ROI aligns with company objectives.

Who We’re Looking For:

To be considered, you must be a fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with at least 5 years post-qualified experience.
You should also have:
• A background in hospitality, retail, or consumer sectors – this is essential.
• Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel (macros, index match, pivots, etc.).
• Experience in multi-site businesses, working with large data sets and commercial reporting.
• The ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders with confidence.
• Experience using Power BI, D365, or other business intelligence tools (desirable).

Interim Financial Controller – PE-Backed SME

Location: London (Hybrid)
Rate: £400-£500 per day (potentially outside IR35)

A private equity-backed consumer goods manufacturer, with c. £10-15m turnover, is looking for an Interim Financial Controller to support its financial operations and strategic planning. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a hands-on, commercially focused role, ideal for a senior finance professional with strong data analysis skills and experience in PE-backed businesses.

Key Responsibilities:
•Owning monthly management accounts and producing analysis to aid commercial decisions.
• Catch up on budgeting and prepare for the financial year-end.
• Develop a 3-year business plan, including cash flow modelling.
• Implement key business KPIs and create a financial dashboard to support decision-making.
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including a review of top customers.
• Support financial due diligence and liaise with external advisors.

Candidate Requirements:

ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) qualified with 10+ years’ experience (strong candidates with less experience will be considered).
Strong data analysis and costing model experience.
Knowledge of market price changes and their financial impact.
Experience with SAGE 200 preferred.
Previous SME experience in a PE-backed environment is essential.
Food/FMCG or manufacturing background is a plus, but not required.
Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable handling investor queries.

Core Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive risk-based internal audit plan that covers financial, operational, and IT processes.
Perform detailed IT audits, focusing on areas such as information security, data integrity, system controls, and technology-related regulatory compliance.
Assess the adequacy of cybersecurity measures, business continuity plans, and disaster recovery protocols.
Evaluate controls over key technology platforms and infrastructure supporting trading and operations.

This role is pivotal in delivering clear and concise insights into cost centres, leading the annual budgeting process, and forecasting.

Responsibilities
Lead the annual budgeting process and forecasting.
Provide clear and concise financial reporting to the Senior Leadership Team.
Chair regular meetings with stakeholders and senior leadership team to review spending, understand expected costs, and address any arising issues.
Support and prepare Quarterly Business Reviews and Annual Budget decks, including presenting at review meetings.
Develop and produce relevant department reports and KPIs to aid in decision-making.

About you
ACA/ACCA/ACMA Qualified Accountant.
Essential experience in business partnering, including providing evidence of challenge and value-adding suggestions.
Proven ability to provide data-driven insights.
Strong analytical skills to investigate, understand, and explain department performance.
