Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled individual to join our Digital Solutions Team as a Trainee Engineer. This role is ideal for someone with a background in IT, engineering, or digital solutions who is passionate about problem-solving and delivering exceptional customer support.
As a Digital Solutions Trainee Engineer, you will provide technical assistance to customers, sales teams, and field engineers, ensuring that issues are resolved efficiently and professionally. You will also assist in pre-sales technical support, software installations, and digital integrations while maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
Provide remote technical support to customers and internal teams via phone and digital platforms.
Manage support tickets, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Maintain accurate records of support cases using CRM systems.
Assist engineers with ZEISS Smart Services and digital device integration.
Pre-Sales & Customer Engagement
Support the sales team by providing technical expertise in pre-sales meetings.
Advise customers on digital solutions and software applications (e.g., FORUM, Cirrus Review).
Conduct basic software installations and configurations for customers.
Internal Collaboration & Administration
Work closely with the Integrated Solutions Team on FORUM and HDP projects.
Assist with administrative tasks within the Digital Solutions Team, including helpdesk management.
Help maintain the Digital Solutions inbox and prioritize incoming support requests.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
Degree, diploma, or certification in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
Basic knowledge of networking, system configurations, and software installation.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
Full Driving Licence
Desirable:
Experience in technical support, IT helpdesk, or software troubleshooting.
Understanding of medical imaging software (FORUM, Cirrus Review) or digital integration.
IT certifications (CompTIA A+, ITIL, Microsoft Certified) are an advantage.
Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK, Ireland, and internationally.

What your day looks like
• Design, develop and implement IT solutions for Payroll and Absence Management according to architectural standards and roadmaps for HR or P&C domain (internally called People & Culture)
• Analyze and challenge business requirements, find optimal solution in terms of fulfilling business needs, system standardization and technologies used; Be able to translate business requirements to user stories
• Participate with architects in assessing new technologies; Implement solutions consistent with overall technical guidelines
• Lead from IT the P&C projects with system implications, playing the role of solution expert
• Integrate external systems into our current portfolio using different integration layers
• Understand and ensure proper data security & data protection standards
• Provide maintenance and support for local and global IT solutions to ensure performance and reliability; Work with local, global, and external partners to improve the maturity and reliability of the services
• Engage with Business Stakeholder to get feedback and translate into Service Delivery Improvements
• Engage with vendors to manage to achieve Payroll systems compliance with PMI IT policies and manage vendor performance

Who we’re looking for
• +5 years of experience in IT analyst role or subject matter expert (SME) in Payroll / HR Solutions
• Experience in system integrations - Cloud and SaaS Solutions would be an asset
• Experience in Projects, ie. Deployment of IT Solutions, preferably Payroll system implementations experience
• Understanding of common IT frameworks such as Agile, ITIL, PMP is an advantage
• Proven consumer-centric approach and comfortable in dealing with external & internal partners at all levels
• Experience in regional support environment and with geographically dispersed teams
• Fluent English speaker to communicate with different groups globally
• Capable to explain complex topics in a simple way and have good communication & presentation skills
• Experience in SAP HCM, SuccessFactors Employee Central or Human Resources systems would be an asset
