Job Specification: IT Infrastructure Project Manager (Automotive Industry, Ghent)
We are seeking a bilingual freelance IT Infrastructure Project Manager (English & Dutch) for an automotive client in Ghent. The ideal candidate will have experience managing IT infrastructure projects within the automotive sector, focusing on systems that support manufacturing, logistics, and connected vehicle technologies. This role involves coordinating complex projects across multiple sites, ensuring robust, scalable infrastructure that supports the unique needs of the automotive industry, including factory automation, IoT, and data security standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership: Manage end-to-end IT infrastructure projects for automotive production and logistics facilities, using Agile or Waterfall methodologies to meet operational and compliance standards.
Team Coordination: Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, including network engineers, systems architects, IoT specialists, and cybersecurity experts, to ensure smooth project execution.
Systems Integration: Develop and implement strategies for integrating on-premises IT infrastructure with cloud solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments, focusing on connected vehicle platforms, factory automation, and IoT connectivity.
Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, ISO 26262 for automotive safety) and develop robust risk mitigation and disaster recovery plans.
Project Tracking & Reporting: Utilize tools such as Jira, MS Project, and Confluence for project tracking, ensuring deliverables are met and providing regular progress updates to stakeholders.
Budget & Resource Optimization: Manage project budgets, optimizing resources to deliver projects within scope and timelines.
Documentation & Change Management: Document all project phases, including infrastructure blueprints, configurations, and deployment plans, while adapting to changes in alignment with automotive production needs.
Profile:
Language Proficiency: Proficient in English; Dutch skills preferred.
Experience: 5+ years in IT infrastructure project management within the automotive or manufacturing sector, with proven expertise in large-scale infrastructure deployments.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of automotive IT systems, including factory automation (e.g., SCADA systems), IoT connectivity, vehicle telematics, data centers, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), and network protocols (TCP/IP, VPNs).
Industry-Specific Knowledge: Familiarity with the IT requirements of automotive production, such as high-availability networks, real-time data processing, vehicle connectivity, and regulatory compliance.
Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead diverse, cross-functional teams and manage projects across multiple operational sites.
Adaptability & Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing risks and adapting to dynamic project requirements.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders across all organizational levels, from technical staff to executive leadership.
Additional Info: Experience in automotive production environments or with connected vehicle technologies is essential; certifications such as PMP, Prince2, or ITIL are advantageous.
