We are looking for passionate, high-integrity individuals to help us scale up our growing business. Together, we can make a dent in the universe bigger than ourselves.
About the Role
At Matillion, we're on a mission to make data engineering radically more productive. Our Data Science team, part of the Product organisation, is dedicated to two core goals: integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning into our products to benefit customers, and learning from how our users interact with those products to drive continuous innovation.
As an ML Ops Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring that our machine learning features aren’t just smart—they’re scalable, efficient, and robust in production. You’ll help drive the performance of our natural language interface within the Data Productivity Cloud, and enable our AI-powered pipeline features to shine. This is a growth-focused role perfect for someone with a solid technical foundation and a hunger to dive deep into the evolving world of Generative AI, MLOps, and cloud infrastructure.
We value in-person collaboration here at Matillion, therefore this role will follow our hybrid work structure where employees work 2 days a week in the Manchester office.
What you will be doing
Bridge Dev and AI: Build and scale reliable ML workflows that power features like our natural language interface and AI-enhanced pipelines
Make AI Production-Ready: Deploy and maintain generative AI systems in real-world environments, ensuring they’re fast, secure, and scalable
Automate and Optimize: Streamline AI development with tools like CI/CD, containerization, and orchestration frameworks
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to align research and production goals
Tune for Performance: Monitor, measure, and improve the accuracy and speed of AI models in live environments
Grow with the Tech: Evolve your skills in agentic AI frameworks (like LangChain), AWS, data governance, and more over your first 12 months
What we are looking for
Solid Technical Foundation: Experience with Python, ML workflows, cloud platforms (especially AWS), and data engineering tools
AI-Curious: Some exposure to Generative AI, agentic systems, and a drive to deepen your knowledge quickly
Ops-Minded: Familiar with CI/CD, containerization, and deploying ML models in production environments
Adaptable Learner: Thrives in fast-paced environments and is excited to grow with a rapidly evolving tech landscape
Collaborative Communicator: Comfortable translating between data science, engineering, and product to align on outcomes
Problem Solver: Proactive in diagnosing issues and optimising systems—never afraid to experiment and pivot when needed
At Matillion, we don’t just build AI—we make it work for people. If you’re passionate about operationalising cutting-edge machine learning and want to grow fast in a high-impact role, we’d love to hear from you.
At Matillion, we are committed to providing competitive salaries in line with market standards. Our estimated compensation range for this position is £52,800 - £79,200, but the final salary will be based on your relevant skills, experience and qualifications demonstrated in the hiring process.
