Role Purpose
We are seeking a Compute Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure & Operations team. The role involves deploying and managing server and storage systems, ensuring strong performance, high availability, and secure infrastructure. You will also collaborate with external partners and internal teams to maintain and improve IT services.
Key Responsibilities
Server System Deployment: Install, configure, and optimize server systems as per technical requirements.
Capacity Planning: Monitor and plan for hardware or resource constraints; recommend necessary upgrades.
Security Management: Apply security best practices including firewalls, patching, access controls, and intrusion prevention.
Vendor Collaboration: Liaise with external service providers to execute changes with minimal business disruption.
Performance Monitoring: Track system performance against KPIs and generate regular reports.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain system documentation and contribute to internal standards and procedures.
Tooling: Implement and manage system monitoring and automation tools (e.g., SCCM, scripting frameworks).
Storage Administration: Manage enterprise storage platforms and ensure data availability and performance.
Backup & Recovery: Perform regular data backups, validate recovery procedures, and ensure disaster readiness.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
Certifications in Microsoft, VMware, ITIL, Cloud, or storage technologies are desirable.
Skills & Competencies
Strong troubleshooting abilities in compute and storage environments.
Experience with both Windows and Linux server administration.
Scripting and automation skills (Python, Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
Understanding of information security, compliance, and risk management.
Experience
Experience with enterprise hardware (servers, storage, network devices).
Knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).
Familiarity with enterprise-class datacentre operations and support tools.
