Key Responsibilities:
Review & Optimise Data Models:
Evaluate existing domain data mart models and architecture, ensuring alignment with our data strategy and optimizing for key analytical use cases.
Design & Develop Models:
Develop and implement remediated data models, collaborating with engineering and analytical teams to standardize and improve model efficiency.
Optimize Storage & Consumption:
Design data storage and consumption strategies with a focus on cost-effective solutions for cloud environments like AWS, balancing storage and compute costs.
Create & Maintain Standards:
Develop and maintain modelling standards, guardrails, and governance processes across data management and engineering, covering areas like:
Data query performance and table structures.
Partitioning data across AWS S3 and other object stores.
Data Lifecycle Management in AWS.
Establishing business logic development and governance processes.
Ensure Consistent Modelling Approaches:
Conduct reviews to maintain consistency and high quality across data models and technical approaches.
Required Skills & Experience:
Cloud & Data Design Expertise:
Proficient in designing and optimizing data models for cloud environments, especially AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift, RDBMS, columnar databases).
Data Modelling Methodologies:
Strong background in data modelling methodologies such as 3NF, Dimensional, and Data Vault.
Experience in Cloud Data Warehouses:
Expertise in building cloud data warehouses (e.g., AWS Redshift) using Kimball methodology.
Technical Knowledge:
Skilled in data visualization tools like Tableau and building queries to extract meaningful insights.
Qualifications:
Certifications in RDBMS design/administration and AWS architecture are preferred.
Governance & Stakeholder Management:
Experience in establishing data governance standards and stakeholder management at various levels, from senior business leaders to analysts.
MI/BI & Predictive Modelling:
Experience with MI/BI use cases, data exploration, and predictive modelling/data science is a plus.
