Exam Invigilators

GSL Education is seeking experienced Exam Invigilators for positions in and around Birmingham. With the busy period of exam season starting in May 2025, we are looking for reliable and dedicated individuals who can commit to the exam timetable. If you're confident in your ability to fulfil the role of an Exam Invigilator, we would love to hear from you. We require staff to register and start immediately who must be flexible to work across the 5 days. The shift times are either a full day or half day but must be able to commit to them.

As an Exam Invigilator, you will have a key role in upholding the integrity of the examination/assessment process and will be expected to independently run an exam room once all training has been complete.

Main Duties And Responsibilities Will Include

Conduct examinations in accordance with the guidance from the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ)
Play a key role in upholding the integrity of the examination/assessment process.

Before Exams

To report to and be briefed by the exams coordinator prior to each exam session.
To keep confidential exam papers and materials secure before, during and after exams.
To ensure exam rooms are set out according to instructions.
To admit candidates into exam rooms.
To identify, seat, and instruct candidates in the conduct of their exams.
To distribute the correct exam papers and materials to candidates.
To deal with candidate queries.

During Exams

To supervise and observe candidates at all times and be vigilant throughout exams.
To keep disruption in exam rooms to a minimal.
To deal with emergencies or irregularities effectively.
To record/report any incidents, disruption, or irregularities.
To complete attendance registers.
To deal with candidate questions according to the regulations.

After Exams

To instruct candidates in finishing their exams and to collect exam scripts.
To dismiss candidates from the exam room.
To check candidate's names on the script, match the details on the attendance registers.
To securely return all exam scripts and exam materials to the exams coordinator.
To attend training, update or review sessions as required.
To undertake, where required and where able, other duties requested by the exams coordinator for example:
Supervision of clash candidates between exam sessions
Facilitating access arrangements for candidates as a reader, scribe etc. (Full Training will be provided).
Other exams-related administrative tasks.

Must

Enhanced DBS Child and Adult Check – Must be on the update service. (We can assist you with a DBS if you do not have one)
