Job Title: SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant

Are you a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
If so, GSL Education are looking for a motivated and passionate SEMH Primary TA to join a welcoming and supportive school in Barrow Hill. This is a long-term, full-time position starting immediately, offering a competitive daily rate of £86-£100. Due to the nature of the role, applicants must hold a full UK driving license.
Responsibilities Of The SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
Support primary-aged students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
Assist in delivering tailored learning and behaviour management strategies.
Build strong relationships with students, offering emotional and academic support.
Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Encourage students' personal development, social skills, and emotional resilience.
Requirements Of The SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
Previous experience working with SEMH, or SEN students is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with students.
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to classroom challenges.
A full UK driving license is essential.
Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).

Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (preferred but not mandatory).

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting and leading within a vibrant school environment? If so, GSL Education are seeking a resilient and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join the dedicated team of our Client Secondary School in Ashington.
HLTA Responsibilities
Assist teachers with lesson planning, delivering lessons under the teacher's guidance, and helping students with their learning.
Support the learning and development of SEND students across a range of subjects.
Provide dedicated support to students with SEN, both in and out of the classroom environment.
Provide 1:1 or small group support to students in the classroom or during interventions, ensuring that learning is accessible and inclusive.
Use de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies to support students in regulating their emotions and behaviours.
Assist with the delivery of personal care for students with complex physical needs, as required.
HLTA Requirements
Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
Proven experience working in a Special Educational Needs School or Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) setting, supporting students with SEND.
A relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience. Additional training or certification in SEND is highly desirable.
Strong emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm and professional when faced with challenging behaviours or complex situations.
Confident in the delivery of pre-planned lessons and interventions.
A solid understanding of SEND strategies, interventions, and best practices in supporting students with learning and behavioural difficulties.
Have an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
