Join our team in Edinburgh to strengthen our solutions architect community with cloud-based expertise!
You'll have a strong background in architecting and designing services running in public cloud, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and extensive experience with JavaScript frameworks, native application development, user identity and authentication management, and data management in the public cloud.

Day to day, you'll be:
Work collaboratively as part of a community of experienced solutions architects taking personal ownership and leadership on a portfolio of solutions.
Liaise with Engineering teams and other collaborators such as Product Owners, Security and Enterprise Architecture, to ensure that designs are appropriate to the business need and aligned to group strategy.
Create scalable and secure solutions with an emphasis on web and app solutions deployed to the public cloud.
Develop data management solutions that elevate the customer experience of using our services.
Undertake and manage required governance, service introduction and audit compliance tasks.

What you'll need
Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or similar role, with a background in development.
Crafting and communicating technical documentation.
Expertise in GCP application services such as GKE and Apigee.
Understanding of JavaScript development (node.js, react.js, Typescript).
Experience of native application development for iOS and Android.
Knowledge of user identity and authentication management.
Aware of data management in the public cloud, particularly GCP applications such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Spanner and CloudSQL.
Skills:
Comfortable taking ownership and working independently or as part of a team as required.
Confident in designing, authoring and communicating solutions, referencing and aligning to existing architectural patterns.
Used to solving complex problems and leading discussions which result in workable and pragmatic solutions, accounting for varying views and opinions.
Familiar with a range of software design standards, languages and architectures, including public cloud architecture.
Proficiency in design principles and patterns such as microservice and event-driven architectures.
An advocate for change and keen to evolve your solutions in line with group strategy.
Familiar with DevOps practices and tools (Spinnaker, Unleash, Harness, Dynatrace)
And any experience of these would be useful:
Certifications in GCP or related technologies.
Experience with other cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with microservices architecture patterns and principles.
Previous use of service mesh technologies, especially Istio.
Understanding of security practices in cloud environments.
