What will I be doing?
As a DevOps Engineer in our Platform, you'll work in a highly collaborative way to drive efforts to build, support and improve our tools for Continuous Integration, automated testing and release management. We expect that you'll demonstrate and apply outstanding engineering practices to increase agility, improve quality and help reduce downtime in all our solutions. As DevOps is not a "thing you do" but a cultural change more than anything, you're also expected to drive this change and ensure that we embed agile and DevOps principles in everything we do.
We want to see placement of these skills in context - why they matter, what value they bring, how to get the most from them, how to evolve them and spread them further within the organisation. It is also very important to understand and apply industry standard methodologies, foster collaborative working to provide solutions for complex business problems where no precedent may exist.

About you
Experience of managing applications running in a Cloud environment providing operational support, solving, tuning, upgrade & optimisation
Mentoring or leadership experience
Knowledge/experience of service mesh
Strong familiarity with source code repositories and other tools, particularly Git
Experience across the entire software development process from inception, through build to production. E.g. Continuous integration, Automated deployments
Build tools and technologies (i.e., maven, npm.)
Tools commonly used to build automated release pipelines, Jenkins, Nexus, SonarQube
Java and JavaScript would be a plus, as they are currently the languages of choice for software in the bank.
Alternatively, knowledge of at least one of the following languages: Python, Golang, Rust
Familiarity with containers and orchestration, Docker or Kubernetes
Hands on Cloud experience with both public and private Cloud experience - ideally with GCP, Azure or OCP
Knowledge of tools for cloud infra as code, Terraform & CloudFormation
It would be great if you also had a "can-do" attitude, capability of bootstrapping projects, and ability to effectively work with multi-disciplinary, internal and external distributed teams across the project lifecycle.

Central Finance (CF) is a team of colleagues within the Finance Division providing centralised support and expertise to the rest of Finance and the Business.
The RWA Reporting & Analysis team within CF has responsibility for calculating and reporting the Group's Risk Weighted Assets and other regulatory capital information.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking candidate. The role would suit a finance professional with a track record of success in finance oversight and reporting roles, with strong communication skills. Experience of Regulatory Reporting is not a requirement, though advantageous.
The role requires the colleague to support Risk Weighted Asset reporting process and associated Data Governance. The position involves co-ordinating the creation of regulatory reports, preparation of robust MI and supporting our divisions through intelligent insight and establishing and maintaining effective relationships across CF and beyond. The role will also include line management of junior colleagues.

Day to day you'll be:
Supporting the delivery of robust risk weighted reporting MI for internal / external stakeholders within agreed timelines.
Line Management and colleague development.
Consolidation and delivery of robust data quality reporting.
Creation and presentation of robust capital MI with added insight.
Establishing and building strong relationships with stakeholders including presenting at senior stakeholder meetings up to Director level.
Understand issues as they arise, communicating and facilitating resolution
Maintain and role-modelling a robust control environment
What you'll need
You have a professional finance qualification (or qualified by experience)
You also have a practical understanding of financial systems and processes with the ability to use and manipulate data and present information to inform business decisions
You can plan, organise, and prioritise your own and others workload with the ability to identify and implement flexibility in plans when required
You are delivery driven and show passion for producing quality work at pace.
You have good interpersonal skills allowing you to collaborate closely with colleagues across teams, departments, and levels
You can implement change using a confident and collaborative approach

Lead in the migration of the current Motor Debt Manager system onto a new Cloud (SaaS) based Debt Manager 12 solution
Drive the success of Engineering within the Financial Wellbeing Platform by sharing your knowledge and experiences and growing capability through quality upskilling
Recognize the importance of quality and hence create and implement approaches, guidelines and principles defined by themselves and their Engineering peers
Build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives, promoting a culture of collaboration across boundaries, where people can express themselves honestly
What you'll need
Extensive experience of the full end-to-end software engineering lifecycle
Strong Background in Object Orientated programming languages - preferably Java with solid understanding of JavaScript
Good Experience of development frameworks preferably Spring and Spring Boot
Knowledge and Experience of DevOps tooling and principles including GitHub, Jenkins, UCD
Experience of Relational Databases e.g. Oracle, SQL Server
Experience of using REST and SOAP APIs within applications

What we're looking for
Strong programming skills with a good working knowledge of modern JavaScript libraries and tooling, such as ReactJS, Redux, Webpack and modern toolsets like test automation, Kubernetes and Jenkins
Diverse technical experience and a proven ability to deliver high quality applications at scale. Strong knowledge of security patterns and best practice
You're able to effectively communicate and work together across engineering to maximise inner-sourcing opportunities and reduce waste.
You're an advocate for quality and can support the team leveraging approaches such as CI/CD best practice, Pair Programming, TDD and BDD
Testing libraries. Jest, Enzyme, React Testing Library
Additional frameworks: Google Analytics/Tealium (Adobe Analytics)
