Aquent is on the lookout for an experienced WordPress Developer with experience especially in front/backend developing to join an amazing 360 agency, who's fanatical about creating new ways to make brands stand out with compelling, immersive digital experiences, thought-provoking creative and beautiful, considered design.
THIS ROLE IS BASED IN BASINGSTOKE
Your Role
We're after someone with solid web development experience, especially with WordPress, who can help build and maintain top-tier websites. You’ll collaborate closely with our designers and devs to deliver fast, functional, and beautifully designed web projects on time.
What We’re Looking For
Building and maintaining custom WordPress themes and plugins to expand site capabilities
Working with designers to bring responsive designs to life across all device types
Writing clean, efficient code using PHP, JavaScript, SCSS, and TypeScript
Handling database tasks with SQL to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes
Setting up and managing hosting environments, particularly on AWS and Linux
Troubleshooting performance, security, and usability issues as they come up
Keeping up with web development trends and sharing fresh ideas with the team
What You’ll Need
Strong hands-on experience with WordPress development (themes + plugins)
A good grasp of responsive web design best practices
Familiarity with Visual Studio for writing and debugging code
Competence with SQL for managing and querying databases
Comfortable working with AWS and Linux server setups
Experience with front-end tech like SCSS and TypeScript
Bonus points if you’ve dabbled in Python
Strong problem-solving skills and a sharp eye for detail
A team player mindset with the ability to take initiative and work independently
Experience within an agency role is preferred
Nice To Have's
Experience with technical SEO
An eye for design and confidence suggesting layout or UX improvements
