Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Carbon Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering our carbon agenda and report into the Head of ESG for the UK. As a business, we have committed to the Science Based Targets initiative, Net-Zero by 2050 and are now seeking to embed PAS 2080 within our projects. We also seek to integrate an Energy Management System compliant with ISO 50001 across our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance and Certification

Lead the adoption and ensure compliance with PAS 2080:2023 (Carbon Management in Infrastructure) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management Systems) standards. Develop and implement carbon management plans in line with PAS 2080 requirements.
Lead the certification and audit processes for both standards, working closely with our internal teams, external auditors and certification bodies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation to support compliance and certification requirements.


Carbon Management

Develop and implement carbon reduction strategies and initiatives to meet business critical net-zero targets.
Monitor, measure, and report on carbon emissions and energy use across all operations.
Conduct energy audits and implement measures to improve energy efficiency across our UK office sites.
Identify opportunities for carbon reduction in line with SBTi and other internationally recognised bodies’ recommendations and drive continuous improvement.
Prepare and present regular reports on carbon and energy performance, disseminating data to build a strong narrative towards decarbonisation.
Contribute to the Groups “Carbon Success Manager” programme, advising on whole life carbon within our Egis UK projects


Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote carbon and energy management initiatives.
Provide training and support to staff on carbon and energy management best practice.
Present regularly at company-wide briefings – simplify complex language to effectively communicate initiatives and standards


Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

Experience: Demonstratable experience in sustainability, carbon management, or related fields on engineering/infrastructure projects
Technical Skills: Proficiency in carbon accounting, greenhouse gas inventories, and sustainability reporting, with a proven track record of delivering compliance against ISO 50001 and PAS 2080
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse complex data and assess the environmental impact of various activities. Experience in Sweep or a similar carbon accounting tool is preferred.
Project Management: Experience in managing projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
Knowledge: Familiarity with UK and European environmental regulations, carbon trading schemes, international standards, technology, innovation and best practice


Preferably:

A degree or qualification in environmental science, carbon, sustainability, engineering, or a related field
A relevant professional certification (e.g., Certified Energy Manager, Carbon Management Professional) is preferred.
