Job Summary

The post holder will be part of a dynamic, multi disciplinary team, within a charity organization, The Matthew project. We are an enthusiastic community team that is county wide. We offer support and treatment to young people, under the age of 19, who are experiencing difficulties related to their substance use and mental health. The role will be based in Norwich city centre and will be supported by an NSFT clinical lead within the setting.

You will hold your own case load and offer aspecialist response to the clinical needs of young people aged 11-19 with drug and alcohol related problems, often co-occurring with mental health difficulties.

This will involve using a range or therapeutic interventions and skills undertaking assessment, formulating and care planning, risk assessment, delivery of care and safety planning.

Although knowledge of substance use is desirable, a willingness to develop new skills and knowledge is supported and training can be offered if required.

Main duties of the job

To provide a clinical response to young people who require specialist interventions as part of a holistic treatment service. Cases will be co-worked within the team and jointly managed with other agencies and services across the county where appropriate.

To provide consultations, advance information and support to professional colleagues and individual young people as required.

To liaise with other professionals, agencies and services in both the statutory and non-statutory sectors.

To assess, plan, initiate and monitor treatment plans, BBV screening and vaccination and harm-minimisation information and advice.

To provide direct support to young people, their parents and carers as appropriate.

To provide support to young people affected by another's substance misuse.

To undertake regular supervision, appraisal and training as deemed appropriate.

Ensure that appropriate and accurate records are kept in both paper based and electronic form in relation to all contacts with young people.
