Job Specifications

Simon-Kucher is a global consultancy with more than 2,000 employees in 30 countries. Our sole focus is on unlocking better growth that drives measurable revenue and profit for our clients. We achieve this by optimizing every lever of their commercial strategy – product, price, innovation, marketing, and sales – based on deep insights into what customers want and value. With nearly 40 years of experience in monetization topics of all kinds, we are regarded as the world’s leading pricing and growth specialist.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Global Advanced Analytics team as a Data Science or Data Engineering Intern, providing a unique entry into Consulting. Predominantly working on projects in the UK and the Netherlands, you will contribute to our expanding data analytics efforts, leveraging data to generate insights for our private equity and corporate clients. Collaborating with teams across Simon-Kucher, you will have the chance to work on projects spanning market reviews, revenue growth, pricing, marketing efficiency, and digital strategy.

What you bring:
As a Data Scientist or Data Engineer at Simon-Kucher, you will be an integral part of the project teams working to drive top-line growth for our clients, linked primarily with our UK and Netherlands focused projects. You will be responsible for the core components of the model development process, from data wrangling / pre-processing to Machine Learning model development, testing, and implementation. Throughout this process, you will also gather and communicate meaningful data insights to your project team. We are looking for internship candidates who are interested in learning more about a career in commercial strategy consulting. We have entry level Data Scientist and Data Engineer positions available for top performing interns upon completion of the internship. You must be graduated or graduating this summer to be eligible to apply.

To apply you will have some of the following skills:

Degree in a quantitative field, such as computer science, engineering, statistics, operational research, data science, or equivalent experience (we expect you to be tracking a 2:1 or higher).
Strong programming skills in a Data Science oriented language such as Python or R.
Strong data literacy skills with knowledge of data manipulation using SQL.
Understanding of Machine Learning, statistical modelling, or LLM models/NLP techniques.
Exceptional communication skills to effectively convey complex data insights.
High percentile numerical, deductive and inductive reasoning skills.
A strong desire to work in a fast paced commercially agile environment.
A keen interest in the intersection of Data Science and commercial strategy and a desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Strong enthusiasm, curiosity, and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes.

We offer internships to candidates from a variety of undergraduate subject backgrounds, though it is more common for Data Science Interns to have a STEM or computer science subject background – what you bring with you enables you to thrive and helps us to continue to grow.

What we offer:
Internships within the team usually last around 8 weeks and are designed to expose individuals to working on client projects. Interns can expect responsibility from the outset as a valued member of the project team. Throughout your time at Simon-Kucher, you will contribute to analysis and results and can benefit from working alongside experienced Consultants, Directors and Partners.

Simon-Kucher is growing. This results in an entrepreneurial and inspiring work environment with lots of responsibilities and a steep learning curve. Internships are the main route we use to recruit entry level Consultants to our London office, so if you perform well during your time as an intern there is the real opportunity to continue your career with us.

As part of your application, you will be required to complete a set of pre-screening questions, including some motivation questions. Please consider carefully how to get across to us everything we are looking for. Your application will be considered incomplete if you do not answer these questions.
If your application is progressed, expect an early-stage online selection test to demonstrate your numerical, verbal and inductive reasoning skills, followed by a first round Zoom interview with the HR team. We will be hosting a final round interview day in our London office.
To be considered for the internship, please submit your application no later than 9am, Monday 14th April. Note that we will not be contacting any candidates in relation to next steps prior to the closing date.
