Mission :
For the evolutionary maintenance of our backend applications, we are looking for an experienced java backend profile for a mission until (at least) the end of 2023.

Our current application landscape contains multiple back-end services that need to be maintained and expanded. Updating/upgrading the basic components is therefore a continuous challenge. In addition, it is important that the data in the back-end systems is maintained as optimally as possible, whereby the speed of storage and retrieval of data must be constantly optimized without this having an impact on the front-end services.
After these updates/upgrades you will know the back-end services well, and you will be able to participate in the further evolution of these services. Depending on the allocated budgets, an extension to 2024 is possible.
Profile
at least 5 years of java backend experience
You have experience with backend services and APIs to understand the requirements and idiosyncrasies of the systems you integrate with.
You master the principles of backend architecture and design patterns.
at least 2 years of experience in coaching junior profiles.
Unit testing or test-driven development are a natural part of the development process for you.
being able to work with existing applications : it is not a greenfield development where you can determine and change everything yourself. You identify points for improvement and discuss them with the solution architect to see which improvements are useful and feasible within the budget.
You know how to set up an automated development process.
You have experience working in an agile team and know how to apply agile methodologies.
you understand at least Dutch, French and English and speak at least Dutch or French. Speaking the other language is a plus
no teleworking : you have no problem working on site for 5 days in Brussels (within walking distance of Brussels North station)
you are able to handle tasks discreetly and you understand that you cannot share the work experience with the whole world
You are result-oriented, not only for yourself but also for the team.
You are customer oriented
You have learning ability
you are in possession of a security clearance of level "Top secret" or you agree to obtain it (= agree to security clearance. There is no cost to you for this)
