Job Description

We currently have a vacancy for an Application Architect (JavaScript/Angular) fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Belgium.

The work will be carried out either in the company’s premises or on-site at customer premises.
In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated with the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client’s IT team on site.

Your tasks

Development and maintenance of software applications.
Design and development of component architecture and building blocks for a web content management system.
Analysis of the integration of different information systems.
Data analysis and data modelling.
Production of software architecture documents.
Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users.
Assistance during relevant parts of testing, analysis, technical documentation, deployment, evaluation and reporting.
Review of the architecture of existing systems to migrate of existing system in the cloud.
Assistance in the testing and technical training.
Assistance with deployment and configuration of the system.
Depending on the circumstances, the architect may be requested to provide assistance or support in the resolution of production issues.

Requirements

University degree in IT combined with relevant IT professional experience of 15 years.
Minimum 8 years of experience in JavaScript/Typescript.
Minimum 5 years of experience with Angular.
Minimum 5 years of experience with web services.
Very good knowledge and proven experience of typescript based frontend frameworks (Angular, Vue, React).
Very good knowledge and proven experience of Java/Spring Boot, HTML5, CSS3, Gradle or Maven, Oracle and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
Very good knowledge and proven experience of agile development principles.
Good knowledge of applications design.
Good knowledge of modelling tools & business process analysis.
Good knowledge of Relational DBMS.
Good knowledge of user authentication and authorization systems.
Good knowledge of business process analysis.
Good knowledge and proven experience of CI/CD principles.
Knowledge of interoperability technology (web services, message-oriented middleware, service oriented bus, event architecture).
Knowledge of the eUI framework will be considered an asset.
Excellent command of the English language.

The Pathways project aims at delivering several products: The Data Platform orchestrates the community of institutions and researchers that participate in the gathering and analysis of the Pathways data. The Data Platform is based on the OpenHexa Digital Public Good. a comprehensive data integration and analysis platform for public health. It is designed to allow data scientists, data analysts and decision-makers to explore, analyse, transform and integrate data from different sources. The Segment Explorer is a web application that helps a broader audience to navigate across segmentation insights. It is developed in NextJS and Material UI, and connected to a Strapi backend. Data is fed into Strapi from OpenHexa. Typing Tools support survey design and data collection in geographies where Pathways is implemented. Typing Tools are based on Iaso, another Digital Public Good from Bluesquare. A public website, that will supersede the current Pathways Project website. We are looking for a Frontend-Full Stack Developer with extensive experience in both frontend and backend development, with a particular focus on frontend technologies. Your work will be crucial in developing and refining the user interface and experience, ensuring the backend infrastructure supports the platform's functionality and scalability. While most of the work is currently planned around the development of the Segment Explorer, the developer will also be involved in the other products. The tech stack for this role includes mainly Typescript, a bit of Python, PostgreSQL, and Strapi and Apache Superset for specific aspects of the Pathways project. The infrastructure is hosted on Google Cloud using Kubernetes for orchestration and Terraform for provisioning and deployment. The OpenHexa team is composed of 5 people split between Belgium and Senegal, and mostly works remotely. Start date: as soon as possible. Location: Brussels preferred.
