The Role
Are you passionate about cyber security and looking to develop your career in a dynamic environment? VPI is seeking a Cyber Security Operations Analyst with early-stage career experience to join our central cyber security team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad stakeholder base within the UK and Europe, contributing to essential cyber risk management and operational security initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
As a Cyber Security Operations Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting risk analysis, security policy implementation, and the Secure by Design framework across Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT). You will contribute to:
• Risk Management: Conduct risk analysis and interpret first-line operational outputs to support VPI’s overall cyber security risk posture.
• Operational Security: Assist in incident response testing, data management, and coordination of cyber security with physical and personnel security teams.
• Human Risk Management: Develop cyber security awareness materials, manage phishing protection programmes, and handle external threat intelligence.
• Software Development & Cloud Security: Support the integration of security policies into DevOps processes and cloud-based tools.
• Business & Change Management: Contribute to risk mitigation strategies for business development and internal change projects.
• Incident Response: Act as a responder within VPI’s cyber security incident framework.

Essential Skills & Experience:
• 1-2 years of experience in a cyber security-related role.
• Educational or workplace experience in cyber security operations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Experience in change management activities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).

Desirable Qualifications:
• Foundation or Fundamentals level Cyber Security certifications or badges.
• Educated to HND/Degree level in a relevant field.
• Understanding of technology principles within the energy sector (not essential but beneficial).

Focused on day-to-day operational tasks and maintenance of core Cyber Security infrastructure service platforms, including but not limited to: Manage and administer the Privileged Access Management (PAM) platform, including user access, permissions, audits and configurations. Collaborate with IT and business teams to integrate and expand PAM controls into existing systems and applications. Manage and administer the Application Control platform, including policy configuration, rule creation, and software whitelisting/blacklisting to prevent unauthorized software installations and executions. Collaborate with IT teams to integrate Application Control mechanisms into existing systems and processes. Work with cyber analysts and engineers to maintain and optimise other cyber security platforms and tools to improve performance and end-user experience. These include, but not limited to endpoint detection and response, network intrusion detection, patch management, web filtering and email security gateways. Develop processes and procedures to manage, monitor and improve performance, reliability, recovery, capacity and user-experience of cyber security controls Work with IT stakeholders to implement and test cyber security controls to ensure compliance with DR and BCP policies and scenaries. Working with the Cyber and Infrastructure Engineering team to form SME relationships To implement security best practices as directed by the Cyber Security Tech Ops Lead, Cyber Security Architect and Engineering teams. Responsible for the quality and response time of support tickets Ensure knowledge and information are documented and passed to the relevant Service delivery teams. Researches and assesses new threats and security alerts and recommends remedial actions. Play an active part in responding to and resolving security incidents (Prepare, Identify, Contain, Remediate, Recover).
