Your responsibilities:
You drive the development of ThermoVault’s Demand Response algorithms, focusing on a wide range of distributed, residential appliances such as heating & cooling appliances and electric vehicles.

You develop modeling, optimisation and control algorithms, hereby capturing values ranging from energy efficiency to nationwide Demand Response services (including FCR, aFRR).

In collaboration with our Demand Response experts, you translate energy market rules into specific optimisation constraints and you implement these within the relevant algorithms using Python. Supported by our IT team managing the CI/CD pipeline, you conduct simulation studies to deploying production-grade strategies.

You will be collaborating with all involved experts, including ThermoVault’s Demand Response and IT teams and the Ariston R&D team on commercial and innovation projects on a European scale. You will work in a highly-motivated scale-up environment with a strong focus on delivering real-world solutions.

Your profile:
You have a master or PhD in electrical engineering, software engineering, mathematical engineering, data science, computer science
You have 4+ years of experience with mathematical optimisation or with modeling and control systems for energy-related applications
Experience in at least one of the 3 following dimensions is essential : balancing products, energy trading or electricity regulatory frameworks
You have experience working in a production software environment using cloud technologies and Python code (ideally running in a real-time cloud environment)
You are fluent in English; any other language is a plus
