We're seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to work within an infrastructure/platform team who are responsible for the ongoing stability, scalability, quality and maintainability of our systems. You will have a mindset focused upon continually improving our DevOps infrastructure to grow alongside company growth, whilst also ensuring our tooling gives developers everything they need to deliver great solutions.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer you'll strive towards helping engineering teams instrument, measure and observe the software and systems they deploy, acting as a subject matter expert on all things cloud-based.
Please note, to apply for this position you must be based in the UK and have the legal right to work in the UK.
What we're looking for
An experienced Senior DevOps Engineer, with a strong grasp of cloud-native design. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced scale-up environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Whilst we don't expect candidates to have every skill listed, experience in the following areas would be highly desirable:
Excellent knowledge of DevOps and prior experience in a Senior DevOps Engineering role, where you've had a great impact on improving and raising the bar around the DevOps Infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, ideally with exposure to the design, implementation and enhancement of these.
Cloud experience - Proficiency in Azure is highly desirable, but equivalent experience with other cloud platforms is also appreciated.
Kubernetes experience (and containers in general), you'll be proficient in managing and working with containerised applications.
Excellent Linux skills, specifically with Debian.
Prior Jenkins experience, including pipeline configuration and management.
Strong Git management experience, with a focus on maintaining clean and efficient workflows in a collaborative development environment.
Great automation skills - you'll be confident with and have previous experience automating infrastructure and deployment processes.
An understanding of VoIP and/or networking experience would be highly desirable but are by no means essential to this position.
What you'll do
Test, build, design, deploy and monitor our continuous integration and continuous delivery processes using modern DevOps tooling.
Assist in managing relationships between your team and other software engineering teams, ensuring a collaborative approach.
Develop robust and scalable infrastructure solutions.
Provide thought leadership on both unchartered problems and legacy software.
Research new solutions and drive conversations focused on improvements and new approaches to complex problems.
Ensure teams are supported and tutored in how our own software and tooling can be used best to execute faster and more consistently.
Have a strong bias for action, owning your domain and taking responsibility for everything you see deserving of change.
Act as a mentor to less experienced developers and colleagues.
Peer review of your colleagues work.
Thrive in a collaborative environment and bring an approach of willingness and flexibility to always "pitch in" on a problem.
What does success look like?
Our cloud systems are scalable, stable and secure, with uptime increasing and downtime caused by issues reduced.
CI/CD pipelines are robust and well functioning.
All our teams understand the systems and tooling your team maintains and can use them efficiently in their own goals.
Our product roadmap remains on track, and our company growth goals are met.
