Remuneration: £250k+ p/a OTE Contract
Overview
We are seeking a strategically minded Fractional Head of AI with demonstrable experience in Translation and Language Processing to lead AI strategy and implementation for our Translation Agency clients. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with core AI translation tools, excellent organisational skills, strong leadership qualities, and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic AI Leadership:
Develop and execute AI strategies aligned with client business goals.
Identify AI opportunities to enhance translation workflows and improve efficiency.
Communicate AI vision and roadmap to stakeholders.
Hands-On AI Implementation:
Utilize core AI tools and technologies to build, deploy, and optimize AI-driven translation solutions.
Ensure seamless integration of AI translation systems into existing client infrastructure.
Oversee the development and fine-tuning of AI models tailored to translation needs.
Organisational and Project Management:
Plan, manage, and track multiple AI translation projects simultaneously.
Ensure timely delivery of AI initiatives within scope and budget.
Coordinate cross-functional teams and manage project timelines.
Leadership and Team Development:
Lead and mentor AI teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
Encourage continuous learning and staying updated with AI advancements in translation.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their AI translation needs and challenges.
Present AI strategies, progress, and outcomes to client executives.

Qualifications:Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Linguistics, or a related field.
Experience:
Proven experience in strategic AI leadership and hands-on AI implementation within the Translation and Language Processing industry.
Proficiency with core AI tools such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and relevant AI frameworks.
Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Localization Tools and Processes to ensure cultural and contextual accuracy.
Proficiency in Multilingual Data Handling for training AI models in diverse languages.
Knowledge of Linguistic Structures and Syntax to enhance translation quality.
Experience with AI Model Fine-tuning and Customization for industry-specific vocabulary or language pairs.
Understanding of Translation Quality Assurance Techniques using AI tools.
Ability to Collaborate with Linguists and Subject Matter Experts to refine translation outputs.
Experience in Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech AI Systems for audio translation.
