One of our key clients, a global financial institution is looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to lead the pre-study phase of the replacement of our clients Loan Product Management System as part of a broader EMEA transformation programme, MIT BIT. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Commercial Banking operations, particularly with regards to Loans as a product, and extensive experience in project management within complex, global environments. The role requires effective stakeholder management across Europe and the US, and a deep understanding of software development life cycles, and strong vendor management skills. The successful candidate will be a responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the IT component of pre-study phase of this critical project, working with the overall PM, ensuring EMEA's requirements are fed into the US Loan re-platforming project and aligning with our overarching goal of cost-efficient and sustainable IT architecture. Beyond this initial focus, there is an expectation that this role will be expected to contribute to the successful delivery of various other projects within the MIT BIT program, covering a wide range of initiatives across the EMEA banking and securities domains.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Leadership: Lead the Loan Product Management System Replacement pre-study, ensuring alignment with the overall MIT BIT program's goals and timelines.
Stakeholder Management: Engage with senior stakeholders across headquarters, US, and within the European context to ensure clear communication, alignment and support for the project.
Planning & Coordination: Develop detail project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies, ensuring all deliverables are met within budget and scope.
Software Development Oversight: Oversee all aspects of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for the replacement system, ensuring best practices are followed and quality standards are met.
Vendor management: Manage and control the package vendor, ensuring their progress aligns with project timelines and quality standards. Negotiate with the vendor when necessary to address any issues, delays, or changes in scope.
Risk Management & Escalation: Identify potential risks and issues proactively across all delivery activities, and manage them through appropriate mitigation strategies, escalating when necessary to ensure the overall program remains on track.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
In-depth understanding of the software development process and overall project life cycle.
In-depth knowledge and work experience of banking product and finance, and a strong understanding of the regulatory environment in the banking sector.
Strong experience in IT Project management, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale projects within complex, multinational organizations, Experience in managing long-term assignments and contributing to multiple projects within a broader program is highly valued.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and control external application vendors, ensuring they meet project requirements and timelines.
Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with senior stakeholders across multiple regions, including Europe, with a clear understanding of reginal and global impact.
Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and experience overseeing all stages from requirements gathering to development and post implementation support.
A conceptual thinker who can present complex ideas and topics to a wide audience (both technical and non-technical).
