AppScan Technical Advisor – Job Description
Overview:
The AppScan Technical Advisor is a key player in driving revenue growth for AppScan within HCL Software, focusing on new licenses, subscriptions, support services, and professional services. In this pre-sales, customer-facing role, the Technical Advisor will ensure that customer requirements are met through tailored software solutions. They will conduct product demonstrations, workshops, Proof of Concepts (PoCs), and work closely with HCL Software Sales teams to shape and advance opportunities. This role requires a solution-oriented approach to identify, progress, and close both software and professional services deals. The Technical Advisor will collaborate across HCL Software’s sales, product management, professional services, development, support, and client advocacy teams.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of technical experience in enterprise software pre-sales and a strong desire to grow within this space. A 4-year university degree is typically required.
Responsibilities & Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Customer Engagement & Technical Leadership:
Drive technical progress of opportunities by guiding customers on best practices and shaping decisions.
Lead the technical response to customer RF(x)’s for AppScan.
Conduct AppScan demonstrations, PoCs, technical innovation workshops, and channel enablement activities.
Solution Expertise:
Become a product expert in all facets of AppScan, continuously expanding technical knowledge and expertise.
Collaborate with sales teams to present professional services and contribute to sales efforts.
Develop and contribute to reusable technical collateral for sales use.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with HCL Software’s sales, services, and technical teams to drive results and maximize revenue.
Leverage existing relationships and network on platforms like LinkedIn to enhance product awareness, customer relationships, and drive engagement.
Continuous Learning & Growth:
Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in application security.
Actively pursue new technical skills and expertise across multiple industries and product offerings.
Desired Technical Skills and Experience:
Familiarity with Application Security Testing technologies, including DAST, SAST, SCA, IaC, IAST, RASP, CSPM, API Security, and more.
Proficiency in modern software development languages (e.g., .NET framework, Java, Python, JavaScript, C/C++, etc.).
Experience with at least one scripting language.
Hands-on experience with AppScan or other application security products (Snyk, Checkmarx, Invicti, OpenText (Fortify), Synopsys, Sonatype, Imperva, F5, Burp Suite, etc.).
Strong understanding of developer methodologies, DevOps trends, and best practices.
