Sky’s Production Platforms Engineering team work to build, deploy and support solutions that create innovate video processing platforms for our internal customers. We are a multi-disciplinary team working across our vast platform on multiple workstreams. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Platform Integration Engineer. The successful candidate core role will be to deploy, integration & development engineering solutions for our platforms.
What You'll Do
Design, build, and maintain automated pipelines for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and software deployments of video processing platforms on both on-premises and AWS environments.
Build API integrations between broadcast systems, including third-party and internal APIs, leveraging REST, or GraphQL for optimised communication.
Collaborate with development teams, DevOps, and QA to ensure integrations meet technical standards, performance benchmarks, and operational requirements.
Drive continuous improvement, automation, and optimisations across our Production Engineering Platforms, including cost management and performance tuning.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues, collaborating with support teams for 3rd-line production support, utilising advanced monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams and operational runbooks.
Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001). Implement best practices for data protection and collaborate with security teams to address potential vulnerabilities.
Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning, ensuring robust platform availability and resilience.
What You'll Bring
Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines using tools like Ansible, Terraform, Concourse, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
Hands-on experience with containerised systems using Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, managing infrastructure in hybrid environments (both on-prem and cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Coding skills in one or more of the following: Python, Java/Groovy, JavaScript, NodeJS, GoLang.
Expertise in IT infrastructure, including Linux administration, database management (SQL and NoSQL), storage solutions (NAS, SAN, S3), networking (DNS, VPN, Load Balancing), and cybersecurity principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Experience with observability tools and implementing effective monitoring and alerting strategies.
Experience with version control systems like Git, and an understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating technical documentation and presenting to stakeholders.
Nice To Have
Experience with MAM/PAM systems, video processing and streaming.
Experience in machine learning or AI-driven optimization for video processing and content delivery.
Certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer), Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD), or Security (CISSP, CEH).
Familiarity with serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions) for scalable, event-driven processing.

Three Bridging Fellowships will be advertised in 2025. We welcome applications from those with research interests in the broad field of medical humanities and are particularly eager to hear from applicants with expertise in race and health, neurodiversity and lived experience research. These posts are part of an exciting expansion of medical humanities at Durham funded by Wellcome. The Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities (DRP-MH) aims to empower health and wellbeing researchers from different sectors and disciplines to co-develop new and experimental approaches to tackling health challenges, including those arising at the intersections of mental health and health inequalities. The Platform seeks to expand the research capacity of the medical humanities globally through creating space for experimentation and intellectual risk-taking and enabling large-scale collaborations with community, creative, health and voluntary sector organisations.
