About the Role
Albany Growth are looking for an experienced Software Developer to join a growing technology team. This role is critical to improving governance, code quality, and testing standards across applications and databases. You will collaborate closely with the existing SQL Engineer and development team to enhance automated test coverage, refine CI/CD processes, and address technical debt within the database.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with the SQL Engineer supporting the trading desk and handling production support requests.
Improve the quality and reliability of database code, including logic, stored procedures, and dependencies.
Design and implement robust testing strategies for both software applications and databases.
Ensure that database modifications are safe, efficient, and adhere to best practices.
Document acceptance criteria for database changes and application updates.
Enhance CI/CD pipelines to support automated testing and improve deployment processes.
Collaborate with the wider development team to drive improvements in coding standards and governance.
Key Requirements
Strong expertise in SQL, with a deep understanding of database structures, dependencies, and optimisation.
Experience in writing automated tests for databases, including initializing states, modifying data, and verifying end-state conditions.
Proficiency in a conventional application development language (C#, MySQL, Java, or similar).
Strong understanding of CI/CD processes and experience integrating database testing into deployment pipelines.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Experience working with legacy code and improving test coverage for untested systems.
Ability to document processes, acceptance criteria, and best practices effectively.
