Job Summary
The Integration Design Services (IDS) team which sits within the Integration Design Authority (IDA), provides a coherent approach to achieving integration by design across Defence. They do so by providing advice and support for project, programme and portfolio development, as well as delivery and in-service capabilities, ensuring that integration is scalable beyond MOD (Partners Across Government, Industry and International Allies).
The IDS assurer role is responsible for delivering a number of integration maturity assessments (IMA) across Defence Portfolios, Programmes and Projects as directed by the Assistant Head Advise and Assure (AH AxA). The assurance activity will provide evidence-based recommendations on integration for the top-level Defence oversight and appraisal committees, for example the Joint Requirements Oversight Committee and Single Service Requirements Oversight Committees.
This activity will require engagement at senior level with Defence Portfolios, Programmes and Projects, analysing data gathered using the Defence IMA diagnostic tool to provide evidence to support senior level Defence decision making. The post will develop and maintain close liaison with IDS Domain Advisors, Defence Scrutiny functions and network with a wide range of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Due to the nature of the role the incumbent will potentially be required to work from the office 5 days a week, requiring frequent access to restricted platforms, which cannot be accessed when working from home. This role may also require occasional travel to other sites.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. As one of the lead Assurers for integration, the post will drive and shape Defence’s Integration Design Services with the IDA enabling Defence to realise its vision and strategic objectives in delivering a truly Integrated Force. You will need to work to cohere the ‘teams of teams’ approach, driving a culture that is trusting, collaborative, innovative, diverse and inclusive. You will enable the IDS to deliver with pace and agility through your skills, dedication and empowerment of everyone in the team supporting the leadership. This is an exciting and interesting role, where you will be able to directly influence senior decision making across Defence.
This role is responsible for providing some of the core foundational activity to enable the IDS to deliver its current outcomes, scaling them as it moves towards full operating capability in April 2025. The work will involve carrying out integration maturity assessments across the Defence Enterprise, presenting evidence to enable senior Defence decision makers to understand and manage integration across Defence.

Experience of Assurance processes, tools and methodologies;
Practitioner level knowledge of product, services, solutions and capabilities development and delivery in complex environments;
Ability to work collaboratively and influence stakeholders within the department;
Excellent analytical ability, drawing on multiple sources to see the bigger picture and identify solutions to enable business outcomes.
Desirable Criteria
Experience of delivering to Senior Approval Boards or Committees;
