Machine Learning Engineer - LLM Experience
London - Redman Place – 3 days onsite.
6 month contract
Outside IR35
£400 per day

The Data Engineer will be part of the team responsible for the operationalisation of machine learning models and services including Transformers, Large Language Models, ASR services and TTS services. They will make technical recommendations, and lead the design, deployment and production support of Machine Learning services, models and tools needed for the GEEP project. They will work closely with the development team, technical lead, product owner, QA, and other stakeholders to ensure that the data architecture supports the requirements of the project.

Responsibilities:
• Design and implementation of tooling and technologies to support Machine Learning and the use of Large Language Models on GEEP.
• Collaborate with the product owner, delivery team, plus other IT teams, and stakeholders to understand and implement the data requirements of the GEEP project.
• Take ownership of design, deployment and maintenance of machine learning models on the GEEP platform.
• Recommend and implement prompt management tools and provide expert advice on prompt engineering.
• Recommend, implement and use tooling to improve development, operations and observability of machine learning models, large language models and AI-related services.
• Recommend, implement and use tooling to enable auto-evaluation of prompts and models against the company's English Language Teaching and Assessment requirements.
• Python engineering (microservices, data pipelines and lambdas.)


Essential Skills:
• Data Engineer
• Strong python skills in a microservice environment – Jupyter, Pandas, Numpy, Fast API, SQL alchemy
• Strong AWS skills – certification would be an advantage
• Experience deploying and supporting LLMs in a production environment with a strong understanding of their strengths and weaknesses.
• A good understanding of LLM fine-tuning using Pytorch, Tensorflow, Trainer or similar tools.
• Experienced with tooling to support model training and operations such as Sagemaker, Langchain/Langsmith, Dataiku, Data Robot, ML Flow etc.
• An active interest in Generative AI and its applications including an understanding of current trends, services and approaches.
• Proficiency in lean/agile software development best practices in a Lean / XP environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills, fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams.
