- Staff Software Engineer - Error Tracking
- Job Description
- No one likes dealing with errors. Error Tracking reduces noise by identifying errors that matter and equip developers to resolve them as fast as possible by leveraging the Datadog platform. We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join Error Tracking to drive new projects such as Backend Crash Tracking or advanced impact analysis. In this role, you will partner closely with engineering and product managers within and outside of the department to help shape our roadmap; design and lead initiatives across the stack; and actively help in strengthening our engineering practices and culture. Datadog’s Staff Engineers are our technical leaders operating at the forefront of technology, building solutions that take us through at least our next five years of growth. They do this in three major ways: As individual contributors, they bring world class technical abilities to deliver industry leading systems in areas such as data visualization, virtual runtime profiling, and planet scale streaming. As technical leaders they bring experienced technical breadth and communication skills to tackling design and architectural problems spanning the organization, charting the right course, then leading delivery. In both roles they participate in the staff engineering community and help us learn from what the industry is doing and what we've built before, and so improve company wide standards around software and systems engineering. At Datadog, we value our office culture – the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them. What you’ll do: Design and drive high-priority, high-visibility projects to build the best error tracking platform on the market. Provide technical leadership across organizational boundaries to ensure maximum delivery efficiency. Lead and guide other engineers through architectural platform decisions. Provide input on prioritizing engineering-led planning and roadmaps. Collaborate with internal product teams to design solutions that meet our customer needs. Who you are: 10+ years of relevant engineering experience 4+ years of technical leadership experience, including both effective communication of complex concepts and experience coordinating across teams to ship critical products You have significant backend programming experience. You have architected, built, and operated complex backend systems to solve problems at high scale. You have a customer-focused mindset and a relentless drive to build products that address their needs. You’re willing to dig deep into specifics of how errors are emitted by various languages in collaboration with our language experts As finding relevant errors is a data problem, experience working on large datasets on topics like correlation or pattern matching is a plus. Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply. Benefits and Growth: New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups) Access to Inclusion Talks, our internal panel discussions Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+ Competitive global benefits Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog. About Datadog: Datadog (NASDAQ: DDOG) is a global SaaS business, delivering a rare combination of growth and profitability. We are on a mission to break down silos and solve complexity in the cloud age by enabling digital transformation, cloud migration, and infrastructure monitoring of our customers’ entire technology stacks.
