Java Developer - 6 months - Hybrid (Glasgow) - Inside IR35
Hamilton Barnes is partnered with a major multinational Investment Bank seeking an experienced Java Developer. This is a hands-on development role focused on modernizing a real-time, event-driven system while enhancing its scalability to support growing business event processing and data volumes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain high-performance applications using Java and Spring Boot
Work with message-based architectures such as MQ/Kafka
Design and optimize SQL queries for Sybase and/or DB2
Develop Unix/Linux scripts using Shell or Python
Follow best practices in software development, testing, and deployment
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand application requirements
What You Should Bring:
Java server-side development with concurrent programming
Spring Boot (Core Spring) and JUnit
Understanding of message-based architectures (MQ/Kafka)
Proficiency in SQL and experience with RDBMS (Sybase/DB2 preferred)
Contract Details:
Duration: 6 months (Strong Extension Potential)
Location: Glasgow - 3 days WFH - 2 Days
Day Rate: £425 - 450 per day (Inside IR35)
Start Date: ASAP
