“This is a remarkable community who share so much more than their knowledge, experience and expertise - they are not only pleasure to work with but a pleasure to know.” Jet Business Network Facilitator 2014 - 2025

The Role:
The role of the JBN facilitator is to deliver what the wider JBN membership asks for within the professional guidelines of the NAJ, and to provide relevant, appropriate and timely topics for meeting discussion, presentation and survey.

The NAJ:
The leading voice for the UK Jewellery industry, shaping professional excellence for more than 1,400 member companies employing over 24,000 people. We protect, promote and prepare our members, helping them be legally compliant, profitable and responsible. Every NAJ member is required to abide by the NAJ's Code of Conduct - based on honesty, integrity and professionalism.

The JBN:
Established in 2005 the JBN is a community of Independent Retail Jewellers committed to sharing their Knowledge, Experience and Expertise within a value framework of Trust, Respect and Confidentiality that enables them to: Grow their business profitably. Benchmark their performance against other jewellers. Develop their strategic thinking. Progress their professional development.

JBN Aspirations:
To be the most sought-after membership in the independent retail community by those looking for professional improvement, business improvement and sector improvement.
To continue to attract people who are willing to share (and receive) knowledge, experience and expertise for the benefit of others.

The JBN Professional Community Group (PCG):
The PCG consists of one member from each regional group, one of whom represents the JBN retailers on the NAJ National Committee.

Key Challenges of the role:
Recognising that one size/style/structure does not fit all - without jeopardising the values, principles and standards that have maintained the ‘oldest’ networking community in the UK Jewellery Industry since 2005.
Developing a dynamic network that is able to adjust according to the majority of member’s needs be they: a new start-up, established business, or exit planning.
Provide value to members in ways that they are most receptive to receiving value, be that: in person. on screen, around the boardroom table or restaurant table.
Able to deliver a sense of continuous improvement for the member, no matter where individuals are in their journey or at what speed they travel.

Key Responsibilities of the role:
1. Network Facilitation - for the benefit of the JBN members individually.
a. Annual Plan - to prepare an annual plan with guidance from the PCG for CEO sign-off in the NAJ annual budget process, that delivers / works towards the development requirements of the wider JBN strategic plan.
b. Annual Congress - to provide the theme and identify the required support from the NAJ Events Team.
c. Retained Desk Days - to facilitate the delivery of communications to and within the community between the regional meetings e.g. completion of the monthly performance report, both marketplace and regional social WhatsApp groups, advice Q&A, news flash emails, business surveys, taking and making member phone calls
d. Meeting Facilitation - to set the meeting dates, coordinate venues, prepare the agenda, deliver the meeting, and provide key follow up notes for the members.

2. Network Development – for the benefit of the network, collectively.
a. Leadership - to provide clear leadership based on the demonstration of the Association’s values of Professionalism, Integrity, Respect, and Trust.
b. Membership Recruitment - to identify potential members and respond to NAJ potential member leads. To contact potential members to understand their interest, attitude to sharing, willingness and ability to provide the required meeting attendance and monthly report data. Ensuring geographical conflict is avoided either by the incumbent approving a different group for the potential new member or adding the potential new member to the waiting list.
c. Marketing Support – (supported by the NAJ Marketing Team) respond to requests for JBN commentary on current ‘topics’, generate recruitment copy, and where available accept speaking events to promote the JBN.

Contract: Approximately 4-6 days per month with peaks in set months. (Based on 2 retained days a month plus 12 days regional meeting facilitation to prepare for and deliver, plus preparation and delivery of 1 national congress).
12 month rolling contract.
Retained days are home based. Meeting days are at the chosen venue.
