Position Required: Data Engineer
A leading global technology solutions provider is seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer to join their Enterprise Data team.
Location: Not specified
Contract Type: Day rate contract, circa £550 per day inside IR35
The Role: Join a dynamic team focused on ingesting, cleansing, and modeling data into single source of truth Kimball datasets for BI reporting, machine learning, and data science applications.
You will:
Design and develop homogenous data repositories to drive data-led decision making
Ingest data from various sources including SQL databases, REST APIs, and Kafka streams
Implement data cleansing rules to ensure quality standards
Model data into appropriate formats including Kimball dimensions and facts
Monitor and maintain business-critical data pipelines
Participate in Agile workflows including sprint planning and backlog refinement
Perform ad-hoc analysis of structured and unstructured data
Document datasets in the data catalog with ownership, lineage, and sensitivity info
Ensure compliance with data legislation (GDPR, PII handling, retention)
Technical Requirements:
3+ years experience as an Engineer in a Data Field
Strong Azure data platform skills including:
Data Factory V2
Data Lake Storage V2
Databricks
Function Apps & Logic Apps
Stream Analytics
Proficient with PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog and Python
Experience writing unit and integration tests
Strong understanding of software development practices (SOLID principles)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines
Expertise in Kimball data modeling (star schema, snowflake)
Advanced SQL skills
Strong analytical capabilities
Beneficial Experience:
