Senior Software Engineer | PHP, JavaScript, Symfony & Laravel
Salary: Competitive – Up to £90k
Location: Hybrid – Chester (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

What You’ll Be Doing:

Collaborating with a cross-functional Scrum-based development team to build high-quality software solutions
Mentoring and supporting junior and mid-level developers, ensuring alignment with team goals
Maintaining team processes for code reviews, testing, and task breakdown
Advocating for and implementing best practices in TDD, CI/CD, and software design principles
Working closely with the Product Owner and stakeholders to define technical objectives and timelines
Driving continuous innovation and improvement within the development team
Aligning technical efforts with business goals, ensuring scalability and maintainability
Acting as a subject matter expert in software development, guiding the team through complex technical challenges
Assisting with infrastructure-related tasks, such as optimising CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps

What I’m Looking For:

Deep expertise in PHP and JavaScript/TypeScript
Strong experience with Symfony, Laravel, and Node.js frameworks
Proven experience working with both monolithic and microservices architectures
Advanced knowledge of MySQL, including complex database design and reporting
Test-Driven Development (TDD), unit testing, functional and integration testing
Proficiency in API creation and third-party integrations
Hands-on experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
Strong understanding of Software Design Patterns and SOLID principles
Expert-level proficiency in Git

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Experience with AWS infrastructure
Expertise with NoSQL databases
Knowledge of modern frontend JavaScript frameworks
