Contract Senior Backend Engineer – Tech for Good | London (Hybrid, 3 Days On-Site)

The company has successfully launched its initial product and is now entering a critical growth phase. To accelerate this, they are expanding their Engineering team and looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Contract) to help build scalable, high-performance systems that will power the next generation of their platform.
What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain backend services that are scalable, reliable, and secure.
Work cross-functionally with Product, Design, Operations, and Growth teams to develop impactful solutions.
Develop cloud-based applications with an emphasis on performance and maintainability.
Lead and mentor engineers, fostering an environment of technical excellence.
Contribute to a strong engineering culture that values collaboration, innovation, and problem-solving.
What We’re Looking For
Core Skills & Experience:
Strong expertise in TypeScript and JavaScript.
Deep understanding of cloud-based architectures, preferably AWS.
Experience with Docker, CI/CD tooling, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
Knowledge of security best practices and observability tools.
Effective communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative mindset.
Bonus Points For:
Experience building and maintaining high-traffic server-side applications.
Proficiency in additional programming languages such as Java, C#, C++, Rust, Go, or Python.
Background in healthcare or fintech.
Experience developing frontend applications using React.
