About the client:
My client are seeking an experienced and skilled Network Administrator with cyber security experience to join their IT Team. This small, dynamic team provides IT support to around 200 users in the UK and 50 users in the USA. They are passionate about making the world a materially better place using their capabilities, expertise, and technologies in materials science and testing, to solve problems and provide innovative solutions.

The Network Administrator role:
The successful candidate will engage in a wide range of challenging projects, including federated data and distributed data for employees at rugged terminals. Although the role includes maintenance of their systems. The Network Administrator will predominantly provide UK support, with some US support. Key responsibilities include:
Implement and maintain computer networks and systems, including software, mainframes, firewall, VPNs, routers, and other physical hardware.
Ensure our cyber security is working effectively, and that all audits are up to date and accurate to maintain our accreditation.
Install and configure network equipment to update or fix hardware and/or software issues.
Update virus protection software to keep data and communications protected.
Monitor computer systems to efficiently improve network performance and ensure network security.
Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including hardware and software configuration problems.
Define network policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
Assist in the training/cross-training of junior staff members.
Network Administrator - Essential Skills:
Degree or similar in a computer related subject, or equivalent experience
CCNA certification and/or FortiNet NSE level 4 with knowledge of FortiSwitch
Proven experience in network administration, including networking, routing, and switching.
Experience with firewalls such as Fortinet/FortiGate, VPNs, and remote implementation.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members and other departments.
Experience in cyber security, with keen attention to detail.
Work with virtualisation technologies such as VMware ESXi v8 or above or Hyper-V.
Experience with cloud technologies including Azure, M365 and telephony.
Experience of SD-WAN is highly desirable.
Business Analyst Skills would be an advantage - but not essential.
Experience of federated data and distributed data would be an advantage.
