Principal Network Engineer - 6 month contract - Outside IR35
My client is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to lead the design, maintenance, and expansion of our carrier-grade network. Reporting to the Network Manager, you will be a technical expert capable of resolving complex faults and managing end-to-end project delivery. This hybrid role combines individual contributions, team leadership, and collaboration with key stakeholders.

Duration: 6 months Rolling Contract
Rate: £480 - £520 Per Day
Location: Hybrid - Central London
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and deliver network projects, from planning to optimization, ensuring SLA thresholds are met.
Act as the final escalation point for complex network issues and provide technical mentorship to junior team members.
Design, maintain, and optimize the network, enhancing performance, security, and reliability.
Document network designs, troubleshooting procedures, and migration strategies.
Collaborate with stakeholders to complete projects and perform out-of-hours work as required.
Requirements:
Cisco core network experience, preferably in Altnet broadband.
Expertise in Cisco ASR, NCS devices, and Firepower models
Experience with PON infrastructure.
Comprehensive knowledge of key technologies: BGP, OSPF/ISIS, IPv6, MPLS, and VPNs.
Proven experience with network monitoring tools, project delivery, and technical documentation.
CCIE certification required is desirable.

- We have a great opportunity for a Principle Network Implementation Engineer. You'll be a technical expert of carrier grade network. Predominately project based. The role: Participate in the implementation of projects from the network projects managers. Be an SME (Subject Matter Expert) on the existing core & access network (working alongside the network architect), to implement project related task. Participate in core & access maintenance and optimisation as maybe required by the network manager. Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard in the core & access network domain, to ensure high network availability and network SLA thresholds. Respond to core & access network related alarms & monitor the network status. Update related documentation after all project implementations activities' Work with all the key stakeholders to ensure project tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. Carry out regular migration/maintenance tasks outside of normal business hours as the project delivery dictates Visit data centres & sites to keep the core & access network up to a set standard. Hybrid working with minimum 2 (two) days in the GN office Support junior members of the team with the technical queries. Skills and requirements Minimum 10 years Cisco core & access network experience preferably in an Altnet broadband provider and strong experience in core & access network project delivery role. Demonstrated strong core and access network implementation experience in a fast pace environment. Strong and proven experience in Nokia GPON/XGS-PON platforms in an ISP environment. Proven hands-on experience working with carrier grade Cisco ASR and NCS device family. The aptitude to work autonomously, and lead a project. Strong carrier grade network solution design, migration and implementation experience. Comprehensive practical and theoretical knowledge of typical carrier technologies, including BGP, OSPF/ISIS, Segment Routing, Multicast, IPv6, Firewalls, MPLS and MPLS based VPN solutions. Deep understanding of packet captures, and the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems based on packet analysis. Experience of configuring and using common Network Monitoring Systems (NMS) such as SolarWinds and Zabbix. Strong and proven experience working with Nokia AMS.
