My client is one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Japan, with an established presence across all consumer and corporate banking businesses. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, they offer a diverse range of financial services, including commercial banking, leasing, securities, credit card, consumer finance and other services.
They are looking for a Finance Business Analyst to join the EMEA Finance Change team. The position is being offered until 31st March 2026 with the possibility of extension. Based at their London office, you will be hybrid working being office based a minimum of 3 days a week. You will be working Monday to Friday, standard office hours with the occasional need for out of hours work as required.
Role Summary
In this role you will be supporting the Finance function to deliver all Finance aspects of the Branch Transfer project. Primary responsibility of the role is to plan, document (including creating a run book), obtain stakeholder buy in, test and execute the transfer of the Branch business from one entity to another group entity. You will work closely with the various sections within Finance and working with Finance teams in Paris and Frankfurt, in a varied capacity covering project management, project administration, business analysis, testing and business as usual as necessary. You will also provide technical accounting input, data analysis, solution prototyping / delivery and change testing for the project.
Background
The project objective is to transfer the branch business from an existing entity to a new entity
A number of workstreams have been established within the project and this role will work solely on the Finance workstream
Close collaboration with other project workstreams, project leadership and key stakeholders will be required
Role requires both technical accounting knowledge and practical solution oriented approach
Other ad-hoc reporting and analysis may be required as part of the assignment
Responsibilities
Provide technical accounting interpretation and analysis including financial modelling and reconciliation.
Interpret and document business requirements, translating these into clear, actionable deliverables. This includes activities such as gap analysis, data interpretation, determining available solutions and their pros / cons and proposing efficient and effective action to take to meet business reporting objectives.
Devise, document and articulate a clear transfer plan including full reconciliation to enable sign off by senior management
Work with IT teams and ensure core deliverables are produced on time and to spec by monitoring development progress, providing guidance and technical oversight and in preparing, executing, and signing off UAT.
Support line management in accumulation and production of business transformation project documentation and status updates.
Deliver innovation and efficiencies across the organisation through business process reengineering (BPR), automation, process/reporting simplification and proactive identification of opportunities to enhance reporting capabilities.
Ensure organisation policy relating to the preparation of External or Material reporting is adhered to by monitoring planned developments and reviewing sign-off documentation as part of the change management process.
Manage and lead key user forum and developer progress meetings, preparing and issuing relevant meeting materials to participants.
Prepare and / or perform and / or review user acceptance testing scripts to appraise system change as required within the change timelines communicated.
Manage expectation through effective and timely communication both within the team and to the stakeholders which we serve.
Skills and Background:
Prior experience working within Commercial Banking and/or Investment Banking environment and familiarity with accounting treatments for vanilla banking products (incl. derivatives).
Being qualified / part qualified accountant is advantageous and familiarity with IFRS reporting standards: knowledge of other GAAPs utilised in the region (French, German, Japanese).
Relevant technical degree-level education with a preference toward accounting and financial disciplines.
Experience in Finance transformation/ change programmes in Commercial and Investment Banking is highly desirable.
Experience in conducting workshops with junior through to senior stakeholders to gather business requirements.
Extensive experience leading and working on data-related projects: Project Management qualifications would be advantageous.
Strong numerical and financial skills with the ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models.
Strong technical and analytical skills in data extraction and analysis techniques including SQL, MS Access and MS Excel with large financial and non-financial datasets.
Proven track record documenting, actioning and testing business requirements and change requests. Creating runbooks and coordinating the delivery to plan.
Experience utilising end user automation
Strong communication skills and is comfortable presenting in front of various audiences: experience delivering training content and conducting requirements gathering workshops would be advantageous.
Prior experience performing Finance-based UAT for new products onboarding process highly desirable.
Practical experience working with Corporate and Investment Banking systems such as Gloss (securities), and LoanIQ (loans) advantageous.
Business practical experience using OracleCloud and Oracle on-prem GL systems desirable.
