Job title: Senior DevOps Engineer

The team:
In this role, you will be responsible for a platform that enables continuous deployment of systems throughout the estate. This role is critical in enabling consistent delivery and minimizing the change failure rate of our company's IT systems, identifying, and driving efficiency and reliability improvement initiatives through the estate. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in independently building and developing solutions for continuous deployment, measuring and improving DevOps metrics, and in working with infrastructure and development teams as well as 3rd parties. You will need to work both on your own, with others, and at times under pressure to meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Business Engineering team to enhance and support the CI/CD build and deploy pipelines on our multiple target platforms, implement and automate change management controls for in-house developed systems and platforms.
- Support Site Reliability Engineering to improve and unify application and deployment observability and establish practices for Disaster Recovery Testing.
Support the migration from on-prem deployments to the Cloud platform in AWS, working closely with the platform and support functions to ensure a seamless transition and an effective and efficient process.
- Proactively identify faults and SDLC process bottlenecks before they become visible problems. Please make sure to implement solutions to improve reliability and scalability.
- Actively work with business stakeholders, and technology teams to establish standards for measuring and improving our change frequency, time to recover, and change fail rate.
- Where applicable, work with the Business Engineering and other teams to help automate manual and repeatable tasks. Implement automation tools and frameworks for automatic code deployment and system management.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to system configuration and operational processes.
Skills and Technology Experience
Required:
5+ years' experience in software engineering involving DevOps/SRE (preferably in a regulated
sector)
3+ years of Python development experience
Understanding of Continuous Delivery
Understanding and experience with measuring and improving common DORA metrics
Experience with Cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes)
Experience with application and platform observability (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, etc.)
Good reasoning skills
Team player with excellent communication skills
Desirable:
Cloud security experience
Network and monitoring experience
Experience with database management
Proven ability to query 3rd party APIs for integration and data analysis

About The Roles:
All Roles:
Comp Sci or Electrical Engineering degree from a top university.
Technical ability is priority so candidates with experience in e.g. rust or java will still be considered for Python / C++ roles.
Personable and highly communicative. Enthusiasm is essential: recieving feedback proactively, desire to take ownership and have substantial impact.
For all roles, 1-4 years of experience in a relevant role is ideal.
Focus on writing clean code that can easily be manipulated for implementation is key. Vouching for best-practices in engineering.
Quantitative Developer / Research Infra Pathway
Work directly with traders, PMs and quant researchers to build out robust, scalable tools and infrastructure for use in real-time trading environment. Unearthing and exploration of traditional and alternative datasets. Leveraging existing technologies, optimisation of desk-specific tools / systems and greenfield builds.
Python, SQL is a plus. 2+ years in finance or technology.
Data Focused Quant Developer Pathway
Work directly with quant division on all tasks related to the fund's highly sophisticated data platform. Ownership over investment datasets and libraries (structured / unstructured, traditional / financial) across research, analysis maintenance, scalability and build-out.
Python, SQL, ETL Pipelines. ML experience a plus. 1-4 years in finance or technology.
C++ Software Engineer Pathway
Ownership over build-outs for integrants of the business's trading engine, across areas including market connectivity, order management, feed handlers etc. Explore new methods for enhancing existing components of the tech set-up and lead-out optimisation of current tools / systems.
C++, Python. Experience with metaprogramming is preferred.

About the Company:
A prominent mid-size proprietary trading firm with headquarters in Chicago and offices globally is looking to take on a new Senior Analyst to join one of their Energy Trading teams in London. Following a period of strong performance, they are looking to grow their European Gas and Power Desk. They are backed by a large Multi-Strategy fund that operates both as a liquidity provider and trader across various energy asset classes. This allows Traders and Analysts to leverage a robust proprietary tech stack as well as unique and diverse data across both the buy side and sell side.
You would be placed within a close-knit team of talented traders and analysts where you will work to develop trading strategies and initiatives based on fundamental research and deep market knowledge combined with quantitative methods. You will have junior analysts that will support you in your research while learning from you. The fund has significant tech resources with its own proprietary risk management systems and data team so you will have access to the information you need to conduct your analysis and design strategies .
Your Role:
Work on the development and deployment of simulation models of European Gas markets. This includes daily analysis assessing the impact of fundamentals and external factors
Monitor gas production, gas demand including gas to power generation, cross border flows
Review, communicate and discuss model performance with the rest of the team as well as other key internal stakeholders. Be a leader in proposing, testing and implementing improvements as required
Collecting and maintain up-to-date market information and analyze market conditions to evaluate fundamental trade opportunities
Develop and use analytic tools to predict changes in the gas markets
Participate in the gross margin formation by providing trade or tactical recommendations
View to helping the desk as an execution trader
Experience/skills required:
Prior Commodities experience.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Econometrics or Applied Economics, or a related field.
Knowledge of Python and/or VBA.
Proven track record of providing quality analysis in a timely manner.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong Excel skills are required.
