Job Description
Senior DevOps Engineer - £70,000 - £80,000 + Bonus - Macclesfield based (Hybrid 2-3 days per week in the office)

My client are a leader in developing FinTech solutions to multiple financial services providers. Due to growth in demand for their platform they are scaling quickly and as such, need a Lead DevOps Engineer to develop their infrastructure ensuring scalability and reliability as they migrate to a new cloud environment.

Essential Technical skills:
Linux System Administration
Containerization and deployment - Docker and Kubernetes and/or GKE
Cloud - AWS and GCP (Desirable)
IaC - Terraform
Scripting - Javascript, Typescript
CI/CD pipelines

Other Essential Skills:
Team leadership - you will have led small teams of DevOps engineers previously
Strategy - Design and deliver the DevOps Roadmap
Stakeholder Management - work with the wider business to align infrastructure strategy with the business objectives. Promote and advocate DevOps culture and activities across the organisation

This is a unique chance to be the Lead DevOps Engineer in a fast growth FinTech company, as they scale their infrastructure in AWS, owning the roadmap and development of DevOps in an exciting organisation which plans to migrate to GCP in the next 12 months or so (GCP is desirable but not essential)

The Role

Key Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable software solutions using object-oriented programming principles in Java.
Utilise Java 8 features such as streams, functional interfaces, and collections to optimize performance.

Design and implement RESTful services, adhering to industry best practices.
Utilise testing frameworks such as JUnit, Wiremock, Mockito, and Cucumber for comprehensive unit and integration testing.
Work with a variety of data storage solutions, including ElasticSearch, Postgres, Aurora, and OpenSearch.
Implement cloud-based hosting and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS Autoscaling Groups.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using BitBucket, Terraform, Jenkins, and Ansible.

What We're Looking For
A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Java software development
Strong expertise in Java OOPS concepts, Java 8 features, and multi-threading.
Proven ability to design, implement, and deliver complex software solutions.
Experience with cloud technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
