Thermal Engineer – Space – Belgium – 6 Month - FREELANCE CONTRACT – 100% Remote Our client, based in the Space sector, are urgently looking for a Thermal Engineer to come onboard and be the responsible figure for the ‘hands-on’ thermal design for the project. The ideal candidate will have experience with ESA & ESATAN. This client can offer 100% remote working. Tech Stack: Strong experience working as a Thermal Engineer in the Space sector. Experience working with ESATAN would be beneficial. Experience working with other simulation programmes would be transferable. Experience in the thermal analysis of satellites would be beneficial. Experience working with other space devices would be transferable. Ability to work autonomously. Responsibilities: Lead the thermal design process for space projects, including detailed thermal analysis and simulation of satellite systems. Utilize ESATAN to calculate and model thermal behavior based on hardware schematics, ensuring performance requirements are met. Lead the preparation, execution, and analysis of thermal tests, including in thermal vacuum chambers. Provide in-depth reports on test results and offer root cause analysis when issues arise. Work closely with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, systems engineering) to integrate thermal solutions into the overall design. Ensure compliance with space mission thermal specifications, standards, and environmental requirements.

This role will be based in Bruges, but offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring just 2 days on-site per week. The contract is initially set for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. You will be involved in designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting automation systems using Siemens TIA Portal, PLCs, SCADA systems, Java, and FMEA methodologies. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and optimize automation systems using Siemens TIA Portal. Program and troubleshoot PLCs for industrial automation processes. Develop and maintain SCADA systems for real-time monitoring and control. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system reliability and performance. Apply FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) to identify risks and optimize system designs. Requirements: Proficiency with Siemens TIA Portal and PLC programming.
