We are looking for a skilful Engineer familiar with supporting scientists with laboratory PCs, instrumentation, and devices. You will focus on maintaining operational computer systems for the scientists they support, joining newly-supplied hardware to the network, securing and hardening devices and generally facilitating the needs of the business. Contract Inside IR35 5 Days On-Site (Hertfordshire) Rate: DOE Job Purpose: Key responsibilities: Assist in maintaining existing computer infrastructure of 5000 PCs globally Image/Onboard new computers into the domain and onto the network Secure and protect new and existing hardware Consult with the business as they require assistance with their equipment Troubleshoot and implement data flows for scientific instruments Technical/Functional Skills: Outstanding computer troubleshooting skills for obscure issues, ranging from device connectivity, network issues, and laboratory software issues Background with End-user Computing or Desktop Support skills essential. Break/Fix consists of 80% of a Lab Engineer's workload Understanding of Networking concepts, such as network topography, VLANSs, Static/Dynamic IPs, Subnetting, IT/OT Networks, and basic understanding of firewalls.
