Job summary – What to expect:
As Junior Data Scientist, you'll play a key role in supporting data science initiatives that enhance CooperVision's commercial business strategy. You'll report to a team in the United States and you'll focus on analysing large datasets, developing data-driven insights, and assisting in the deployment of machine learning models. The Data Scientist will work closely with global and regional teams to support business objectives through data exploration, model development, and visualization.
Responsibilities:
Assist in analysing CVI’s structured and unstructured data to derive actionable insights that drive strategic business decisions.
Support the development and deployment of data science models, applying basic machine learning techniques to commercial use cases under the guidance of senior team members
Strong problem-solving skills with a curiosity to explore and interpret complex datasets. Collaborate globally and regionally with cross-functional teams, leveraging data insights to build strategic partnerships and drive results.
Provide expertise in advanced data science techniques, including machine learning, optimization, simulation, regression, decision trees, neural networks, and clustering for commercial use cases.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Utilize predictive and prescriptive analytics to enable proactive decision-making and optimization across the organization.
Foster innovation and continuous improvement by integrating new data sources and advanced analytics to enhance business processes and decision-making frameworks.
Willingness to learn and apply new data science techniques to business challenges.

About you:
We’re looking for someone who has had experience of analytics/data modelling. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to grow their expertise in data science and contribute to impactful business solutions, so whether you have 6 months or 2 years’ experience, we’d be keen to speak with you.
You would worked in an environment where you needed to pull and analyse large and complex datasets using SQL, as well as confidently being able to use data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
As well as the technical skills and understanding, we are also looking for a strong communicator as you will be expected to tell the story of what the data is showing to deliver clear insights to the business which will help support business decisions.
Given this role will be based in the UK and will report to a team in the US, we will be looking for someone who can work autonomously and be comfortable working as part of a remote team as well as working on your own.
