Dark Light is a specialized data consultancy, focusing on project staffing in data & business intelligence. For one of our clients, we are looking for a Analytics Engineer.
Overview
We’re looking for a skilled Analytics Engineer to join a forward-thinking team based in Mechelen. The role involves translating business goals into robust technical solutions, with a focus on process mining and event log frameworks. This is a full-time freelance role, running through the end of 2025, with potential for extension.
Location: Mechelen HQ
Start: ASAP
Duration: Until EOY 2025 (extension possible)
Workload: Full-time (80% also negotiable)
Language: English required; Dutch is a plus
What You’ll Do
Partner with business stakeholders and a Data Product Manager to define and shape data-driven solutions.
Design data workflows from source to delivery, including documentation and transformation logic.
Create logical data models and consolidate them into high-level architectural designs.
Help guide the work of Data Engineers, ensuring quality, scalability, and efficiency.
Assist with issue resolution and coordinate across internal and external teams.
Present and defend solution approaches to architects and other technical leads.
Who You Are
Experienced in production-grade data environments.
Skilled with tools like Snowflake, SQL, DBT, and schedulers such as Dagster or Airflow.
Strong communicator with an analytical mindset and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
Comfortable working in cross-functional settings and with third-party partners.
You have a degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Preferred Bonus Skills
Working knowledge of Dutch
Experience in customer-focused organizations
Previous collaboration with external engineering partners
